Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

I turned on the TV for five minutes
to watch something called 'Comic Book Men' and had to stop. I spent nearly a year working at a comic store back in 1996 and I guess I'm still a bit scarred. And I had no idea it was a reality series, so of course it doesn't focus on the good stuff, but rather the stressful stuff, because for whatever reason reality shows live off of tension and stress. If it were a comedy, I might be able to get into it. Oh, Gods, this brought back those 4:30 am nights, shipment days, comic geeks who boomed at the ceiling (and I was the closest thing they were ever going to talk to in terms of a girl), that sort of thing. I'm glad I did it, it was great experience (I actually did everything a librarian does, like deal with vendors, manage serials, design and implement databases) and it remains on my résumé. We had that store running like a dream until the owner sold it, thanks to YKWIA, and it took over our lives. But I think both of us are still a little scarred, indeed.
