Live near Lexington?

I know a lot of you already have cats and may not want to expose your pets, but if you know of anyone who might be able to help, please send it on. It might be fine if you have a heated utility room or basement, for example.

From the Humane Society...
We are experiencing a very serious problem with Upper Respiratory Infection in the adoption cat room here at the shelter. Virtually every cat is sick. Dr. Fuller, our staff veterinarian, has indicated the best way to handle the situation is a two-step approach. First, we need to get all the cats out of the shelter and on medication. Second, we need to disinfect the adoption cat room and let it air dry for 3 days. We need your help! We have nowhere to place the cats while we medicate and disinfect. We need anyone who has a spare bedroom or bathroom to host a cat and give medication twice a day for about 10 days. It is imperative that we get this taken care of quickly. Left untreated, the cats can develop pneumonia. If you have cats at home, you can insulate the area by putting towels into any cracks beneath the isolation room door. We will provide the medication if you provide the space.

If you can help, please call Monica Barber, Manager of Volunteer Services @ 233-0044 x 231 Lexington Humane Society.
