Interesting article on planning sustainable communities (aka co-housing) and applying them in Malaysia
I'd love to see more of this style of community planning here in the States. I've read about it through such resources as Natural Home, a magazine devoted to environmentally sound living, but I'm afraid that most areas in Lexington have been firmly set in the pave it! mentality for awhile. But whither the coasts go, the midlands eventually follow. And Kentucky has a very long tradition of sustainability. We have a huge debate over progress vs. Bluegrass/greenspace already. I hope the city planners take note that this might be a better way to go, building a better environment for ourselves, our children, and our children's children.
