What a day

I had my first attempt to use the dough setting on my machine, followed by punching it down, one more knead by hand, my first try at braiding, brushing with an egg mixture, and baking for 25 minutes. The first picture is the braided dough before baking, the second is the final result. It was a recipe that did the two loaves I needed at once. I'm really looking forward to tasting it tomorrow. I even put a few sesame seeds on top to be fancy.

The bread was my crowning achievement for the day, along with getting in some information on a website in a timely fashion. Otherwise, I managed to 1) forget to take any of my medicine, oral or injected, 2) had my blood sugar fly up to the 340s as a result, 3) received a kitchen timer in the mail that didn't work per the instructions so rather than just returning it I unscrewed and fiddled with it most of the day, figuring out how to put it back together but unable physically to do so, and getting mightily frustrated, to the point where I just threw it away, since I couldn't return it, 3) slept most of the rest of the day, 4) had a recurring anxiety dream which began with Dungeons & Dragons (which oddly enough, as a gamer, I've never played) in the Patterson Office Tower at the University of Kentucky, and ended with a full-out musical number with Nancy Drew in that location.
I get a little off when my medicine's off. The dream was my anxiety, I was more frustrated than normal, my blood sugar was affecting my thinking and in general, I was both anxious and depressed.
But I made good bread, so that's going to be my takeaway. In the meantime I've taken all the meds I can at night (ADHD and water pill/potassium are the exceptions, as they're a morning thing). I've also had a bit too much caffeine today, and it's late, 1:35 am and I'm both tired and awake. I watched some 'Designing Women' with my roommate just now, though, so I feel a little better.
That timer was sort of a metaphor of my day. Non-operational, then wound too tightly, and you take me apart and the spring explodes and you lose the screws.

Yesterday was the game

So it was a matter of getting the house ready, doing laundry, and rolling dice. Brenda and I are both playing characters we hadn't played in years, which was fun, although I have no clear idea of how to play mine since it's been so long.

Today, meanwhile, has been fairly relaxing, although it started out not so great. I'd forgotten to change my alarm, with it being a holiday, but more to the point, YKWIA came in shortly after 6 am to check on me.  Turns out that he'd dreamed I was dead and wanted to make sure I was alright and alive.  I think it was his mind's response to all the stuff that happened last Monday when I went to the emergency room.  So we talked for a while and both of us went to bed till about 9 am.

It was nice to have a day off from work. My physical therapist is out at the end of the week, so she worked on Labour Day, and they called and had a cancellation, so I moved my appointment from 6:30 to 2:00. I was there till about 3:30 pm [my piriformis and other muscles were really tight, probably from sitting at the game, so Grace took awhile working on it]. Then I went and got my hair cut, and he didn't take much off but at least it looks a little neater.

Before

After

After and smiling :)

I'd taken YKWIA over to a friend's so he could help him with some things, so I went and got him and we went to drop off a bill and got a few things from the store (he's been cooking dinner; I've been keeping him company.) We're having sautéed zucchini with parsley and shallots, along with bell peppers stuffed with a tuna-onion mixture. [Note: I'm continuing this post-dinner and cleanup; it was very simple yet very yummy.]

Okay, it's after 10 pm now.  YKWIA is on the phone with a friend from Cicero.  I'm in my sleep clothes, and I have washed dishes, cleaned up, changed my purse, and packed my lunch.  I even laid my clothes out.  I don't usually do that.  It's time to go to bed now.  6 am comes early.  Have a good night!

Feeling a little better today

When I started work this morning I was very behind. I managed to get caught up on my charge entry, do the charge reconciliation, and finish an audit. I didn't manage to fill an interlibrary loan, which I'll have to do Monday, or much of anything else on the library side except for helping with equipment and filling the copiers, but overall, it wasn't a bad day. My orchid is starting to open just a bit, and should be flowering Monday at full colour, which makes me happy. It's hard to believe that just yesterday I had to resist the urge to destroy the almost-open buds as part of my foul mood. But I did resist, and they're blooming today. Yay!

A wants a ride to the store later this evening, so I can't really start on my laundry yet. I think I'll work on that book review in the meantime. Yes, they said that it could be submitted for the next issue, but I'd like to go ahead and do that. I've already finished the game notes, and we play this weekend, especially if I--long story--finish that book review first.

I'd like see the movie Sing while it's still in the cinema, and had thought of using my free tickets for it with YKWIA tomorrow. But I'll have to see what plans may be in the offing.

I'm also almost finished with the book The Cave and the Light: Plato and Aristotle and the Struggle for the Soul of Western Civilization by Arthur Herman. I'd like a paperback version. I've really enjoyed it as an historical survey through Western thought, philosophy, theology, and science. It makes me think of my major professor when I was in the history programme, E. Randolph Daniel. As far as I know, he is alive and well, but last night I dreamt of his funeral, only it wasn't him, just someone with the same name. It was a weird dream. I'd like to send him a note to thank him for being a great teacher. I've meant to send it for awhile. He's been retired for about 16 years; if I want him to get it, I should send it soon. But I loved having him as a professor of Mediaeval history, and he put up with my issues, especially while I was going through my divorce.

Okay, time to read the book for review. It's a book on communication and having difficult conversations in the workplace. Considering my fear of confrontation, I think it would be a good read for me.

I had a very vivid dream last night

A friend and I were participating in some sort of exercise where everyone had to work together to get through a series of puzzles or obstacles--sort of the opposite of 'Survivor', as the idea was the group as a whole had to get through, or at least the majority, through cooperative effort. Afterward, the sky turned a brilliant green (yes, green, very bright but a light shade), and there were stars and meteors. I remember being so happy that my friend could see the streaks of meteors (he has poor vision, and can't really see stars in the sky). Then the sky changed to a darker, more menacing colour of blue and purple, with hurtling explosions and things got scary. Apparently the world was going to end unless the correct person was edited out of the program creating the world, and it would be like they never existed. My friend had to sit down and carefully edit out first one person and then another until the sky turned back to 'normal'. I was one of the one sacrificed for the greater good. Even in my dreams I'm a martyr. *shakes head* Anyway, he finally got the right one and everything was okay again. I think it was brought on by a combination of the Perseid meteor shower last week (and I was lucky enough to see a fairly large one streak across the sky, even with the city lights), as well as being intrigued by the video game that just came out, No Man's Sky, which in all the news stories has a green sky (although not the vivid green of my dream). I slept throughout the night, dreaming, and stirred just a couple of times and then went right back into the dream.

Hmmm....

All I know, is that I used to have a cat who would pat my eyes with his paw while I slept. Very creepy thing to wake up to, that.

Scientists Have Figured Out Why Your Eyes Move When You Sleep
When you dream, your eyes flutter quickly from side to side, which is exactly why this phase is known as rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. It’s long been suggested that the eye movements might correlate with people seeing things in their dreams as they “look around.” Yet even fetuses and people who have been blind since birth experience REM, despite the fact that they’ve never experienced sight.

The game involved some brain-dead strategising

between Brenda and myself, although I think we're poised to reach the climax of the adventure next time. We're trying to rescue three people from a village of nearly three hundred serpent people, led by a Serpent Mage, somewhere in the middle of the South American jungle, survive, and get out of there. That's a tall order at the moment.

Afterwards I fixed YKWIA some dinner and watched 'Hart of Dixie' with him; we only have six more episodes left on Netflix. :(

I realised last night that I had already transcribed the game notes, the weekend after my trip. That made life easier. But last night I spent the entire night waking up and then falling right back into an odd dream of Serpent men in Japanese guise and business suits, who were experimenting on humans, including me and and a man who were not characters in the game, but were of the class of characters, but we didn't have our swords or mystical powers, so we were pretty much just human. We were living in a compound until it was stormed by some sort of government agency, and everyone was saved. We'd been there some time; some of them had children who were four or five. But we couldn't say we were basically lab rats in an experiment run by Serpent Men. So the media thought it was some sort of cult that kidnapped people for some unknown reason. The whole dream unfolded a little at a time; I'd wake up, and go straight back into it. It was very odd. A lot of it came from the game, of course. At one point in the game, for example, a group of us were kept in a transparent house 65 million years into the future by the Great Race of Yith, who were in bug form in that time. We had hedges that ate people, and one of Brenda's characters was pregnant at the time she went on the adventures, so during the gestation she was in a suspended animation pod on the moon and then delivered her daughter on a vastly changed Earth where we were basically lab rats. So that may have been in the back of mind, too.

Okay, I'm tired; sorry to be so brief. There's a reason I don't tend to blog on Sunday nights--I'm normally tired from getting the house ready for the game, playing the game itself, and whatever happens later. It's an all-day thing. And starting next week, 'Salem' is back on, at 10 pm on Sundays. I don't know if I can stay up that late each week for awhile. We'll see. It's a good show, after all. Good night.

Am I just getting old?

Today I visited with my friends and reconnected after the trip, watched UK beat Auburn in the SEC men's basketball semi-finals  with one of them, and then took him to the grocery, and now, less than 24 hours after getting home from Chicago, I am already ready for a nap, even though I've done nothing strenuous and I've walked about a fifth of what I did Thursday. Now granted, on the first week of Daylight Savings Time, I've bounced back and forth between two time zones, really exerted myself over the course of three days, flown twice, etc., but still, I thought one good night's sleep would get me back to normal.  Of course, come to think of it, I was up for an hour in the middle of the night because, well, that's what I tend to do--I wake up and it takes awhile to go back to sleep.  So maybe I didn't sleep quite so well.  But I did dream vividly, something I don't remember doing at all during my trip.

I actually finished the game notes early for a change

So I'm all ready for Sunday. I'm also a couple of more episodes into the first season of 'Haven'; four more to go for that season. I didn't feel great this afternoon--not sick, not hurting, just kind of blah. And even though I was planning on brushing up on some more advanced Excel techniques tonight, I wound up keeping YKWIA company, and felt better myself as a consequence.

Tomorrow I finally get my actual, permanent partial dentures. Hopefully they'll fit well. I also need to go by the library and pick up a book on hold. Friday I need to take a friend to another appointment. Saturday I need to get an oil change and have the brakes looked at. I had one set done back in February, but I'm thinking it's time for the other, because I can hear a squeal in them.

Now I just want to stretch out, put on the CPAP headgear, and then just go on to sleep. I'm going to try to get up a little earlier tomorrow, and hopefully my brain will cooperate. This morning I was dreaming of a horrible noise coming from something electronic. I had the guys from IT helping me go through computer, Kindle, etc., to find the source, to no avail. Then I woke up and it was my alarm clock. Today at work, I told the two guys that were helping me in my dream about it and they got a kick out of it. Okay, it's definitely time for bed. Good night.

Yum!

I woke up from a disturbing dream of abandoned dogs (I should really watch what I read before going to bed) very late today, with almost no appetite but a craving for tomatoes, especially yellow ones. So in the hour that I've been up and about, I have:
  • Taken a shower and dressed
  • Checked my blood sugar and taken my medicine
  • Eaten a small protein bar
  • Called Howard Curry Shoes to ask a couple of questions
  • Gone to the farmers' market and spent $6.50 on three large yellow tomatoes and a pint of cherry tomatoes that were mostly Golden Jubilees
  • Stopped by Circle K for drinks
  • Went to the library and picked up the book on Francis Scott Key and the Washington race riots of 1835, as well as The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
  • Paid a fine I'd gotten by borrowing through interlibrary loan where there was a bit of a delay in getting it back...the fines are $1 a day, so they rack up in just a few days. (I'd borrowed it for a friend.) I hope no one puts skimmers on those checkout machines at the library, because I didn't have enough cash and I had to use my debit card.
  • Came home and chopped up a couple of the large yellow tomatoes, put some salt on them, and ate them, to great satisfaction. No pictures of bounty this week, as I was really keen on satisfying that craving. And no, as I said in the last post, I can't be pregnant. :)
So next on the agenda is going to Tates Creek to the library branch there and picking up another book (usually I just have them sent to my home branch, but hey, I do have a car, and some time today, so I'll just go there), then over to Nicholasville Road where the shoe store is. When I called earlier, the lady that answered was very helpful and had a lot of personality. Things look good for that trip. Let's hope they can find sandals for a foot that is basically a cube, as wide as it is long, and swollen in the afternoons to boot.

Hmmm...but before that, I have to admit the tomatoes have actually perked up my appetite just a bit. I may have a veggie burger, and then just eat dinner somewhere later. Or maybe I'll just come back here and have some salad I've fixed and find something to make. I have frozen Indian food, for example. It would be cheaper than going out. Plus I could watch something while I eat (yes, I know that's not the best thing to do as far as watching your food intake). I'll see how I feel later.

Okay, that veggie burger is calling. Hope you're having a god Saturday!

Absolutely no 'Ab Fab' before bed

I was over at YKWIA's earlier and we watched an episode of 'Absolutely Fabulous' called "White Box", which among all the other minor subplots, had Marshall and Bo on the run from the IRS and FBI for their evangelical bilking of America. Then I came home, and tired, I went on to bed. I had a strange dream, set in Georgia, where the government was coming down on members of the Church of All Worlds (which is nothing like Marshall and Bo's scheme, is actually neo-pagan in nature, and inspired by Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land, and which is currently based in California) [although come to think of it, the last time I saw the church's founder, Otter G'Zell, now known as Oberon Zell-Ravenheart, it was in the Atlanta area at a pagan gathering]. Then Eddie and Patsy showed up, and things got positively weird. (Sadly, I don't remember Saffron showing up--she was always my favourite, being the long-suffering good girl who kept it all together and running.) Anyway, the thing was so odd I actually woke up. Here's the original inspiration:

Why shouldn't your dreams be messed up as well?

I woke up this morning

with a horrible dream in which I went totally mad, waking up at 8:12 am (I have to be at work by 8:30.) I was a bit late, but I was a little ahead on my time so I think it will work out. Despite thinking it would be dreadfully dull on a light clinic day right after Christmas, it actually went fairly smoothly and I got a lot done. I was the only one in the library for the most part, as my office mates were gone. It was so quiet I could hear the copier in sleep mode from across the room. So I travelled around the hospital occasionally and played some music from my phone using a little speaker (it's called a Music Bullet) as I worked.

I chose a primary care dentist for my new DMO plan (it's like an HMO, only for dentists). Essentially, there are 34 dentists in our town who take the plan, many of them part of one practice. So I made that practice my PCD after calling and making an appointment. You see, on Christmas day I was eating a spring roll (yes, Chinese food, the one thing you can count to be open on Christmas, and Jin Jin is excellent). Anyway, a crown with the tooth inside came out of my mouth. Essentially it broke off at the gum line, meaning I'll probably have to have oral surgery, which is unfortunate to say the least. So I'm going to have them check out things and see what all needs to be done. The drawback to the DMO is the lack of participating providers/small pool of them. But there are two very good things, one being that it costs a mere $3 and some change per pay period, half of the PPO plan, and second, it doesn't have the limits that the PPO has, so if I need intensive stuff it will pay for it. It even partly covers adult orthodontia (which I don't really need at this point). The other doesn't. So I'm hoping I made the right choice in going with this plan. The appointment is safely after the new year, when my flexible spending account will be refilled, etc.
    After work today I:
  1. Went to the pharmacy, picked up a friend's medicine and paid for the medication they had put on hold for me when I couldn't pay before Christmas.
  2. Actually went to the YMCA and discovered a recumbent bike that I used for a short but good introductory workout. I hope to start going regularly and extending the amount of time, variety of activities, and level of speed, etc.
  3. Spent time with YKWIA and A, especially watching YouTube videos with YKWIA. I now know much more about apartments and customs of Japan, and unfortunately have watched an entire video devoted to bestiality in Colombia with donkeys. Yeah. I know. I think he takes a certain amount of pleasure in making my brain hurt.
  4. Stopped by Taco Bell on the way home and ate.
Now I'm home and I'm online enjoying what may be the last night of regular cable Internet. Tomorrow the plan is to take in the cable box and modem and cancel my service. Then I need to call and cancel my Vonage account because it piggybacks on the cable. That will save me nearly $180 a month right there. Instead, I'll use my phone as a hotspot with the laptop and if need be the TV and Roku box. The tablet has a data plan of its own, and the Kindle is 3G. If using the laptop or streaming videos exceeds the 2.5 GB limit I have on the hotspot, I think I can go up to 4 GB for just $10 more, still saving a lot compared to cable. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. I have an antenna for the TV and get several network channels plus some nostalgia TV. I usually just watch the news at home, or maybe something like 'The Big Bang Theory', which is on CBS. I have a DVD/VCR recorder if I want to record something for later. I should be good to go.

Okay, getting sleepy. Hope you have a good night!

Oh

I had an anxiety dream about work today that involved a co-worker and I discussing strategies for dealing with the move of the hospital to an ambulatory surgical centre (when in reality neither of our positions are going, according to the plan) and how we plan to weather the change, as well as mutant people with giant heads (as in a yard wide) trying to come into the library, which was located in one of the auditoriums in the Singletary Centre for the Arts at the University of Kentucky. That was about 6 am. YKWIA called me and woke me up from it, thankfully. One of the first people I saw this morning was this co-worker from my dream, and she told me she'd brought tomatoes for me. So while I was dreaming about her, she was bringing me tomatoes. A little weird, hmmmm? I'm so glad that it was all a dream, at least, except for the tomatoes, which were so terribly nummy I ate all of them (I think there were five) today. Have I ever mentioned I love tomatoes?

Curious

I did step out for a moment. The sky is quite cloudy and obscured. Better to return to the land of imagination and dream. Good night.

My God, it's full of stars

I woke up just a little while ago from a dream which was irrelevant to this story except for the very end. I looked up, and despite being at my apartments where there should be some light pollution, the sky was a beautiful cascade of many stars, the Milky Way was visible, there seemed to be such depth and velvetness overhead (I tend to dream with a sort of intense super-detail often, and this was exactly like that). There were meteors shooting up ahead every few seconds. Right now the Perseid meteor shower is going on, and even though we're past the peak, meteors are still being grabbed up by Earth's atmosphere. I'm almost tempted to go outside to see whether I can see any, although I know the city edge that I live on is pretty bleak for most skywatching. I really need to find a good stargazing spot and take my telescope there sometime.

Of course, I have seen a sky like that before. I've lived in the country plenty of times. And when I lived on Edwards Air Force Base in California, we not only had little light pollution (or any other kind), we were at a high altitude. I remember one of the parents driving us out onto the base away from the lights and it was total darkness, and we got up on the hood and roof of the car with blankets and just watched the stars and meteors. That was the Perseids, too. It saddens me that many children today will never see the stars like that.

Anyway, just wanted to share that bit. Time to head back to bed. I was gone by 8 pm and have slept almost seven hours as it is. I hope to get up in about an hour or two and do some things around the house. I've been going to bed in an attempt to avoid them, I think. I tell myself I'm just really sleepy, but let's face it, it's a trick. :)

That so did not work

I put my feet up in the bed and lay there for what seemed like an interminable amount of time, in pain, but not wanting to get out of bed to take medicine. Then I finally fell asleep and had a dream about superheroes trapped in a state of weakness that only got better when they worked together and put their combined power to work. Then one of the super-heroes used an undisclosed power to take over their world, power which was used to run the world with an iron fist. It then became a mystery/rebellion to figure out how to depose him, and it turns out the power was derived from Justin Bieber. Later a young woman was able to wrest the power from him, and again the world changed, but she was eventually persuaded to give up the power for the greater good of everyone, so they would have choice in their lives. It was quite entertaining, actually, better than a movie. And it was as long, or even more actually, as I probably fell asleep by 9ish, and now it's after 1 am.

So I woke up, was still actually in quite a bit of pain, and took my nightly meds. I'm eating a bit of hummous. Before I go back to bed I'm at least going to get those clothes together. But I'm pretty bushed, I must admit, from my day off. :)

I woke up

After sleeping for about three hours. The reason I am writing is that I had two interwoven, detailed and vibrant dreams involving returning to work and also seeing someone hit and killed by a car. The latter, I know, has to do with a local news story where a woman was fatally struck by a fire truck downtown the other night. Coming a short time after my own accident, I suspect it's weighing on my mind because things could have been much worse for me. I am not saying it's been a picnic, but I could have died. I could have had a head injury, or at least some other horrible injury. The ankle and foot are bad enough.

I don't want to have you think it's all about me. It's just it hit home just how lucky I was. I'm so sorry to hear she died. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this woman. I know one friend was terribly bothered that her body lay on the ground in the rain for three hours while they investigated. I guess I see the body as just a shell after death, so it wasn't a great concern to me. But it might pain her family, and I would think somehow they could have marked the position, even in the rain, for that time.

I went back to sleep this morning and slept about four hours

Most of which was spent dreaming about a worldwide beauty contest set in Korea where I was being prepped with handlers similar to Katniss Everdeen's in The Hunger Games. Turns out midway through the dream, it was a contest for drag queens, and I was one, too. I'd broken up with my boyfriend and was trying to escape into the contest when someone else won without me even performing. But the boyfriend kept trying to get to Korea, finally did, and there was a tearful reunion. This is what I get for watching the movie Clue on Logo the other day. There were many, many ads for RuPaul's Drag Race.

I very rarely dream I'm a guy, and I've never dreamt I was a gay guy with a partner. The drag thing was obviously something I was new at. But I'm just glad there was a happy ending, and I woke up about 10 seconds before my alarm went off.

Last night

I slept rather well. For about four hours, in dream I was on a cruise with Betty White and some other ladies. Mind you, I was an accidental stowaway, especially as I picked it up in Man O' War Place shopping centre, which is quite landlocked, but they were great and were offering me a bunk and amenities even though the captain wanted to set me off in the water somewhere. Also, it's a little odd, because I've never really wanted to take a cruise (neither wanting to learn if I get seasick or get Norwalk virus or some such), but this was fun, mainly because I was in Betty White's company.

Then I woke up for a little while and went into a rather frustrating dream of trying to save a stupid woman's husband and friend from where the CIA had put them, and she kept dropping things into a creek like her cell phone, and I was fishing them out, bum leg and all, without getting anything important wet (by that I mean the leg, rather than the cell phone). That lasted a couple of hours. I was miraculously just walking with one leg, though.

Today the beautiful sunny and warm weather have given over to clouds and rain. I'm hoping it won't be this wet when I go out tomorrow for my appointment, as it has been working best just going up the steps on hands and knees. I'm not sure that will work. But I think it's supposed to be colder, so maybe it'll be snow flurries instead of actually wet rain.

Guess I'll check the news and see if they have a cause for the explosion in Indianapolis or if anything else of note has happened. I'm thinking the explosion was a gas line, but that's just conjecture.

Speaking of disasters, I was having trouble getting comfortable in bed last night, so I took my clothes off; I normally don't sleep in them. I'd parked the wheelchair in the kitchen rather than the hall should I need to make it out quickly. Then the disaster thoughts came to mind. What if there were a fire? Normally I'd just throw something on and go. But with my mobility limited and with it hard to get dressed quickly, I was sitting there admittedly over-worrying. So I pulled out a nightshirt that could be quickly put on and left it there next to me on the bed. Then I started thinking, I'm running the fan so much, could it start a fire, that sort of thing. I finally fell asleep (maybe that's why water was in both dreams, to counteract my fears). There is a fine line between worry and preparedness, but I have to admit, I'm moving a couple of things around just in case. I don't want to die just because I can't move quickly.

Productivity

I had fallen asleep for awhile but had awoken from an odd dream when a friend called, and we talked for awhile. In the midst of our conversation, I started dusting my living room, because the electronics I've been playing with are quite dusty and there's some around the rest of the room, too. Then, after getting off the phone, I washed the hand washables, unloaded the dishwasher, cleaned my microwave, and added five gallons of treated water to top off the aquarium. Not bad for a small burst of energy.

I had gone out and gotten a soda from the laundry room while on the phone (that may be where the burst of energy came from; I don't think it will affect my sleep, it usually has to be a lot when I haven't had any in awhile, even though it was late for caffeine), and just being outside in the muggy night took my breath away, and I had to use my inhaler. I don't know if there are more allergens at night or what. But I feel better now, and of course was fine doing all the lifting (the water) and scrubbing (the dishes and microwave).

The house is in good shape except I still need to bring order to the dresser top and some of the bookshelves, and I really need to buckle down and clean my shower/tub. The rest of the bathroom is in good shape, but the tub looks kind of scary. But I don't want to use the cleaner that works, that has bleach in it, tonight because that will make me have trouble breathing again, and the whole house smells like the stuff when I do, so that may be for Wednesday.

Tomorrow we're doing the big grocery run, so I'll probably be busy for a good couple of hours and won't feel like cleaning when I get home.

Ah, the aquarium sounds like a gently babbling brook rather than a waterfall. That's good. I'll have to add water more often; the plastic strip that the glass top hooks into keeps falling. It's cut to allow for the filter, but has a groove the glass fits into, and apparently it's either warped or I'm not getting it in right, because it keeps going into the tank. Without it on, the water evaporates a little more quickly.

Okay, back to sleep, hopefully without odd dreams of pizzerias without food.

Saturday, May 26, 2012

I decided that I would sleep in today

But even I didn't expect to wake up at eleven. I had strange, vivid dreams, the type you remember readily after waking. Two involved guns, including some guy at a student center shooting me for no particular reason except he was going on a rampage. One involved some people who were trying to get me to pay double for a taxi they were not able to procure (that actually happened, to a point, one time in real life). Just strange things, and mysteries to be solved, that sort of thing. I apparently tossed and turned because when I did wake up my CPAP was in the floor (fortunately it has a separate humidifier that I don't use in warmer weather as a rule). My hair looked a fright, standing up on one side and falling over a bit like a Kewpie doll.

My day isn't slated to be as busy as normal on a Saturday. I have to go out in search of wine and chili paste to bring tomorrow. Otherwise it's game notes, and if I possibly can, the pool, which opened yesterday at our apartment complex. But I don't want to go in the heat of the day; I'm not sure my sunscreen is still good, so no trusting it and getting burned to a crisp. But maybe around 3 or 4 would be good. I'll probably be good and hot after walking around Richmond Road. Then there's just a bit to do around the house (maintain the bathroom and kitchen, maybe vacuum, and clean up around the computer).

Tomorrow, as far as I know, we'll be playing in the game, unless Brenda has something to do for the holiday weekend. So it'll be busy. So the plan today is to strike a balance between productive and rest. I wish I had thought to do some yoga this morning, but I've eaten now and don't like to do it when I'm full, especially since I had the most perfect pancakes I've ever made, at the perfect temperature (with sugar-free syrup, of course).

Okay, I suppose I should get going, or at least go check the bus schedule. I'm used to getting up much earlier on a Saturday. The first three go like Sunday, but then they start the ever 70 minute thing. I wish Richmond Road's bus went every 35 like some of the others on Saturday. It used to be holidays, such as Monday, would go on a Saturday schedule, but this year they're on a Sunday one, meaning the last bus goes out of the transit centre at 8:20 pm. So if you ride the bus, be sure you don't miss that last bus.
