Well, I made it home

which is remarkable, as I'm on mile 16 of my gas light, and the car was idling a little funny while sitting in traffic. YKWIA wanted me to help him with something, but I won't have any gas money until tomorrow and couldn't take a chance of getting stuck somewhere, so hopefully he'll be okay. We do have plans together tomorrow, though. I had a fairly slow day at work, although I did help a co-worker who was having some trouble in Microsoft Excel by finding a partial solution in an e-book I have on Excel on my Kindle. I came home, opened the last of the tuna, and ate it with some mustard and dressing on crackers. Terminix is coming tomorrow, so I'm going to work on the dining room, which is covered in clean, folded but as-of-yet-not-put-away laundry. Most of the rest of the apartment is fine, except the bedroom, and I'll just shut the door to it. :) But I may work on that, a bit, too.

I'm having a little trouble with keyboards. See, on any given day I type on an ergonomic keyboard at work, a normal one at YKWIA's (although his has almost all the letters rubbed off, and even though I touch type, that can be an issue), a swiping 'virtual' keyboard on phone or tablet, a small Bluetooth keyboard for phone or tablet, the laptop keyboard, which is smaller than a normal one, but larger than the Bluetooth, and then there's the rudimentary keyboard on my Kindle. I think all of this typing on many different platforms is affecting my ability, because the placement of the fingers is different for each one. So if you notice any typos, you'll hopefully understand. Actually, the 'backspace' and 'delete' keys are reversed on the Bluetooth and laptop keyboards, and if I am at an odd angle (like now) on the bed, I touch the touchpad of the laptop accidentally with the heel of my hand, and bad things happen, indeed.

One last thing, for now: I want to wish my Uncle Ed and Aunt Sharon a wonderful 53rd anniversary. You make a great couple.

Taking a break

From straightening up the living room.  I have been steadily working for about an hour or so (previous to that I was fixing my Internet connexion). There's so much to do,  but I'm organising as I go.  I consolidated my meds,  for example.  They are usually kept in one place,  but I changed that so that now my inbox for mail and my bill keeper/important documents box is within easy access.

I think I'll have a little non-sleeping quiet time and then work on a book review that's overdue on the computer. I have to admit,  though,  I have been crafting Excel formulae a good portion of the day,  so I am not too keen about sitting down in front of the screen and writing.  I am on my phone,  now,  you see. Oh, well.  I have to finish. I'll try to write here later,  too.

Out in the lobby at a friend's appointment

I'm grateful that it's late enough that I don't have to miss work. A had called to see if I could give him a ride home, but it would really have meant cutting it close on getting to the appointment. I called to tell him that but there was no answer, so I'm afraid he'll have to make it home on the bus.

I brought the laptop originally because I thought I'd work on the game notes, and then I remembered that I have a book review due tonight. I did bring the book with me, but I'd like to have it handy, and the lobby lights are too dim in my corner to really refer to it easily. If I move, I can't charge my phone, which only has about 13% charge. So there you go. Meanwhile, I left the earphones out in the car and I've already gone out and in once to get the phone charger, and I don't want to annoy them back in the office, as the door chimes each time you open it. There's no one here, but I don't really want to play the game over the speakers, either. In other words, I'm finding excuses to put off both of them and just play on the computer instead.

Last night I went to bed early but the last four hours of supposed sleep-time were interrupted by cramping and nausea, courtesy of my impending period. As a result, I was really slow-moving today. But I eventually got going and did quite a bit today. I was also trying to help a co-worker with some Excel formulae. I don't use Excel that much, so it's a bit of a challenge. I know it involves IF, OR, and COUNTIF statements, but I'm thinking I have too many parentheses. After working on one cell for about an hour, I gave up, my brain turned to mush, and I'm thinking I'll look at it tomorrow again with fresh eyes, and maybe consult my over-1000 paged Kindle book on the subject. :)

It's hard to believe that it's October already, and although it's 7:38 pm, it's almost dark out there. I had to initial and date quite a few sheets today, and it was really hard to write '10/1'.

Okay, I think I'm going to move some files for the game over to Dropbox and then sign off. I'm using my phone's mobile hotspot, and I have 3.0 GB of data I can use for that (and unlimited on the phone itself), but I don't want to rack it up too quickly. Good night.

I actually finished the game notes early for a change

So I'm all ready for Sunday. I'm also a couple of more episodes into the first season of 'Haven'; four more to go for that season. I didn't feel great this afternoon--not sick, not hurting, just kind of blah. And even though I was planning on brushing up on some more advanced Excel techniques tonight, I wound up keeping YKWIA company, and felt better myself as a consequence.

Tomorrow I finally get my actual, permanent partial dentures. Hopefully they'll fit well. I also need to go by the library and pick up a book on hold. Friday I need to take a friend to another appointment. Saturday I need to get an oil change and have the brakes looked at. I had one set done back in February, but I'm thinking it's time for the other, because I can hear a squeal in them.

Now I just want to stretch out, put on the CPAP headgear, and then just go on to sleep. I'm going to try to get up a little earlier tomorrow, and hopefully my brain will cooperate. This morning I was dreaming of a horrible noise coming from something electronic. I had the guys from IT helping me go through computer, Kindle, etc., to find the source, to no avail. Then I woke up and it was my alarm clock. Today at work, I told the two guys that were helping me in my dream about it and they got a kick out of it. Okay, it's definitely time for bed. Good night.
