No game after all

as Brenda wasn't feeling well.  A and I went out to the mall to get his new shoes and he treated me to lunch at Olive Garden.  The service was terrific, the food plentiful and generally fine (Joe Bologna's is better,  but still, it was decent). Back at their house, YKWIA and I watched some episodes of 'Torchwood'. Then he and I  discussed The Epic of Gilgamesh. I really need to go back and re-read it. Also we discussed ancient Roman cuisine.  Later, after I came home, we had an interesting conversation on the phone on the differences between men and women's psychology.  I love these sorts of talks,  although he often hurts my brain. I love that he and I share many academic interests.  He's also honest to a fault.

So now I'm home.  I started the bread baking. It's 'Outrageously Oatmeal'.  I had to microwave some honey that had crystalised, but otherwise I'm hoping it comes out well. I'm having some crackers for dinner.

I'm doing well tracking my habits with the Habitica application and website. My little avatar is now 8th level and has a dragon hatchling that likes potatoes. It really is fun to use.

One of my resolutions this year is to do one fun thing by  myself each day.  I also plan to read more.  I never seem to have the time these days, and I'm resolved to make time.  To that end,  I'm going to read for awhile while the bread is made.  Good night.

PS Once again,  a new season of 'Downton Abbey' has started without me catching up on watching.  I really should watch seasons 2 and 3 on DVD (I don't have 4 yet). Also,  I missed the New Year's 'Sherlock' (I don't have cable,  and PBS' signal is kind of weak), but it repeats on the 10th, and YKWIA said he'd record it for me, as A is interested in it,  too.

One more thing....

There's a new one out...YKWIA showed this to me today, and I thought you might enjoy it.

For you 'Downton Abbey' fans out there

I somehow missed this, but YKWIA showed me it (and the other parody videos from the same people). I enjoyed this immensely.

Quiz: Which 'Downton Abbey' Character Are You?

I'm still working my way through the second season, so I'm glad it's one of the characters I knew (and yes, I wasn't able to avoid the terrible spoiler regarding her). What can I say, a life lived with heart and compassion, no matter how brief, is a good one.

Got home just a little while ago

on roads covered with about 1/4"-1/3" of sleet. I drove about 25 mph on the main roads, along a snow route, and still had trouble skidding just a bit on slower turns. I hope Brenda gets home okay--I just had to go about four miles, whereas she lives in the next county, to the west, and they've had even more sleet. We're supposed to get another 1/4" of sleet and several inches of snow in addition to that, anywhere from 2"-6".

But I'm home, thankfully, safe and sound. The game (Cthulhu, that is) was really good, and my character who was in danger of death actually survived, although with some odd consequences, the full import of which isn't known yet.

Okay, I have 'Downton Abbey' and 'Sherlock' recording. I think I'll listen to some music and go and rest. It's been a good yet long and at the end, nerve-wracking, day. :)

Today I

went to the pharmacy after work and then over to T-Mobile, where I asked about taking my tablet off my bill and about a discount due to my workplace. Apparently they have you call if you want to take a line off your account, so that the retention people can work on you. But I had good solid reasons for not keeping the broadband on the tablet: a) I am no longer on the bus and am usually around wi-fi, so I no longer need an over the air data connexion, and b) I have unlimited data on my phone with a 2.5 GB hot spot I can use to power the tablet if I'm away from wi-fi. Turns out that they not only could cancel the broadband, but I'm eligible for a free 200 MB of data without overages each month due to my tenure with T-Mobile, and it's something that will be locked in as long as I need it, even if they no longer offer it later. So I can still use some data over the air, and use my hotspot capability if needed when away from wi-fi, like over at YKWIA's, or use the wi-fi when I'm at home, at the library, etc., etc. I'll save about thirty dollars dong that, and then, with the discount that should be available, my bill with be about $40 less than it is, right around $100, give or take a few dollars. Meanwhile, my Samsung Galaxy S3 is almost paid off, although I may upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S5 when they are released around April or so. If not, my bill will go down by about $20 more. Yay!

Then I got some gas at Kroger ($2.74 with the 40 cents off from my Plus card!), got a few things for tonight there, and headed over to YKWIA's for the finale of 'American Horror Story: Coven'. I loved it, and won't give any spoilers here, but I think it ended on the right note.

I also ordered the DVD for the fourth season of 'Downton Abbey' from Amazon and it should be here Friday, which is interesting, as the show doesn't finish up here in the States until late February. So I'll have the whole set. :)

Okay, I got home late because of AHS, and it's after 1:30 am. I'm cramping (getting ready for my period) and my muscles are all knotted up, and feeling no-so-great, so I'm going to take care of a few things, stretch out in bed, and hopefully go on to sleep. Good night.

It feels positively balmy

holding steady at 11 pm at 48 degrees, our high for today. Even the projected low, 23 is higher than most of our highs lately. So needless to say, when I got home from the game, the first thing I did was take my trash and recyclables out, then cleaned out the fridge and did some dishes. Sadly, we're going to plummet again, as tomorrow is forecast around 0 or 1 degrees Fahrenheit. Not fun. A high for Tuesday will be about 13. So I'm practically basking as I long as I can.

Yesterday we got four inches of snow, which, with the high winds, drifted quite a bit. But the streets are in decent shape thanks to the warming above freezing. We may get some rain and snow tonight, and a bit of snow in the morning, but the plunge to single digit temps for the third time this month is the big story.

I didn't get much done on my 'snow day' yesterday. I did a lot of napping, and worked on my physical therapy exercises, all of them, but didn't do so well about watching TV, although I did watch a couple of hours of the Smithsonian channel, a programme on the finding of Richard III's body and one on Sitting Bull and the Battle of Little Bighorn that were both interesting. I still haven't watched 'Grimm', 'Sherlock', or 'Downton Abbey', though.

I struggled with the notes for awhile last night, then spoke with YKWIA for an hour on the phone and returned to them, only to stall. We'd talked about something that's going on in my life that I haven't fully dealt with, and it just made me want to curl up in a ball some more. So, I went to bed and kept trying to wake up every hour on the hour, without much success. I finally got up about 6:30 and finished them shortly after 8 am. I know I shouldn't have that much trouble doing them, and it's really helpful to do them, but I just dragged this time. I am glad I brought my laptop with me, because in my sleep-deprived state I didn't manage to get the correct files into my Dropbox files for access from my phone. Overall, I didn't get decent sleep, so I find myself (after way too much soda) as still a bit pumped up by the game (in which things were resolved that had been issues, but one of my characters was suddenly nearly killed, and may still die, unless they can figure out how to get her out of a stasis) but pretty sleepy at the same time. It's been a long day of housecleaning, grocery shopping, gaming, etc. I've also recorded 'Downton Abbey' and 'Sherlock' to watch later.

Tomorrow I have physical therapy. Tuesday it's a dental cleaning in preparation for some oral surgery. At some point I've also got to go get some medicine from the pharmacy, too. And I should go ahead and do my taxes, as I have all the paperwork I need. But for now, I think I'll call it a night. Hope you had a good weekend as well, and have a good week ahead. Stay warm. Good night.

I'm getting a little tired of this whole 'polar vortex' cycle

of snow followed by brutal temperatures. We're warming up today to the 20s with an additional 3-6 inches possible of snow, and then the temperatures are going to plunge in a day or so back to the subzero range. Our homeless and warming shelters are full, the electrical grid is somewhat delicate and people have lost power. And we're lucky compared to places in the Northeast as far as the snow goes. The sustained cold really has been a problem.

I was going to try to get an oil change on the car tomorrow, but that's not going to happen. On top of the snow issue, there's a whiteout possibility as winds whip up and blow the snow. I've already told A and YKWIA that I'm not coming over tomorrow, and that we can try to do the grocery run on Sunday. The main roads were dry this afternoon; but streets in residential areas such as mine are still packed snow with a glazing of ice on them as slush froze in the cold temperatures--another few inches, or even just one or two, will make it all the more difficult to get to those main roads, which are going to take a day or so to get clear again. While I was at their house earlier, I dropped off a DVD from Netflix so they can get cozy and watch it tomorrow while it snows. My plans are to catch up on a few things here. I didn't watch 'Grimm' tonight, for example, as I took a nap, but I recorded it and will watch tomorrow. And there's 'Downton Abbey' to consider. But there's also game notes and stuff around the house I can do. I also need to call Brenda to see is she can take me for some oral surgery that's coming up in a couple of weeks. I've got it set up so I can stay with friends afterwards so they can watch me for a few hours' afterwards and then I can drive home the next day.

Last night I filled up the fish tanks as they were getting low, especially the big one. I was a little worried about the heater blowing without enough water covering it. Besides, that's gets the fish squared away for awhile. I also changed the carbon filter in the big tank. I didn't realise it, but I'm out of the cartridges for the small one, and so I need to get a pack of those from Meijer's soon. I really want to vacuum the gravel out in both tanks; I may do that tomorrow if I can get it to work. Those self-starting vacuums never work well for me--I can never get them to start right--and I'm sure not going to try to do it by suction after I have oral surgery, so maybe now is a better time.

Physical therapy is going well and I'm already finding some relief with the pain and numbness in my arm. Tomorrow I'm going to do my exercises, since I'll have time, as well as maybe a little of those workout DVDs I ordered, if I can rearrange the living area nicely for more room. I have PT again on Monday, and then have my teeth cleaned on Tuesday. No word yet on whether we're playing the game or not on Sunday; that'll depend on the snow and Brenda, I suspect. Better to go ahead and do the notes tomorrow though, just in case.

Okay, I woke up around midnight for awhile, but I'm ready to go back to sleep. Have a good night, and stay safe and warm.

Haven't felt the best of late

I'm a bit grumpy due to caffeine withdrawal, a bit stressed over bills, and I'm holding the stress in my neck and shoulders especially, which is only making them and the arm worse. Friday night YKWIA made a wonderful meal of potato artichoke soup, a split pea dish, and a light salad. I was doing pretty well then. Yesterday, though, I really felt blah, and as I went through the day, the pain increased. Despite this, I had A over to my apartment so he could watch Jezebel, which I had out from Netflix. He loves Bette Davis and old black and white movies. Last month he discovered Turner Classic Movies and has been in heaven. YKWIA also introduced me to the Hulu original series 'The Awesomes', an animated comedy about a superhero team that is really quite funny.

We didn't play the game today (Brenda was ill, hopefully she'll bounce back soon), so instead of doing the notes last night I came home early and took a muscle relaxer from the last time my neck was in such straits and went to bed a little before 8 pm, finally getting up about 10 this morning after two hours of trying to get going. I spent the day watching 'The Awesomes' with YKWIA and helping get their house clean, although I got help moving things. Then I came home, did a little surfing online, started the bread machine (A reminded me that I could, at least, make bread of my own, even when having little in the way of money), curled up on the couch with a blanket as the wind howled outside and the rain came pouring down, and listened to Loreena McKennitt on Pandora. I thought about watching 'Downton Abbey', but I'm still on season 2, so I'll just record it for later. Soon that rain is supposed to turn to snow, and a blast of Arctic air is going to take us from the 50s today to below zero tomorrow. Crazy, isn't it, that it could plunge so fast? Which means I'll probably have even more aches and issues with the weather change. :( I did at least remember to bring my winter coat, gloves, hat, and scarf (the latter are 'Doctor Who' TARDIS ones) out of the car trunk and into the house so they'll be warm tomorrow morning. I'll need it for sure.

I'm drinking some chocolate raspberry truffle coffee I've had in the freezer for ages since I still have some half and half from YKWIA's last visit, and so that might help with the headache and irritability. The bread is probably a little over a half hour from being done. For once I read the directions and the rapid rise takes an extra teaspoon of yeast, apparently. I've never added it before and things came out fine, so I'm interested in how it will come out when I follow the recipe properly. I can take some with some peanut butter and spreadable fruit tomorrow and I found some garden salsa Sun Chips in the cupboard. I have plenty of breakfast options (real Irish oatmeal, eggs, and pancake mix, so if at all possible I need to get up early and make something. Or I may just boil some eggs tonight and go from there; I usually have boiled eggs from the cafeteria for breakfast during the week. That will save a bit, if I bring breakfast and lunch with me. I have some frozen food, pasta (including spaghetti with sauce and vegetarian 'meatballs'), that sort of thing, so I should be able to bring food with me till I get paid, anyway. The problem is it looks like I won't be able to pay my rent when my cheque comes in, because I stupidly overdraughted the account. I've been so good for awhile now with managing things, and while there was a bank glitch that allowed me to take out money when there wasn't any really available, still it's my own fault. I'll have to see what I can do to fix it. Sadly, over several months last year I loaned out quite a bit of money that I shouldn't have, and there's been no real effort to pay me back. and bringing it up just seems to make things worse. So while I did mess up, I wouldn't be in this position if I hadn't have tried to help someone else out. I guess the old saying is right: No good deed goes unpunished. I just hope I can find a way to get my bills (especially my rent) paid soon. Tomorrow I'm going to look into some options. If worse comes to worst, I might be able to take a loan from my retirement plan.

Okay, the bread machine just beeped. Time to see what that extra teaspoon did. :)

I wish I'd recorded 'The Big Bang Theory' tonight

Not only did it have Bob Newhart and Bill Nye the Science Guy, it had some utterly great lines that I'd like to hear again. Here's hoping they get posted to YouTube on the show's channel.

So, that's over now. I need to decide what to do now. It's only 9 pm. Here are my options:
  • Watch the DVD of Coraline, which I received from Netflix today
  • Listen to Pandora, specifically some Loreena McKennitt, which I'm doing now
  • Listen to the radio or some CDs
  • Watch an episode of 'Downton Abbey'--I'm on the second season, and the fourth is starting in a couple of months
  • Watch some 'Grimm' off the DVR--I have all but the pilot on there, and I should catch up
  • Work on the game notes in anticipation of playing Sunday
  • Read (I'm currently working on Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated by Alison Argrim, which has been quite good)
  • Go to bed (but it's only 9 pm, although I'm a bit tired--I haven't been getting the normal amount of sleep of late (although it's been very good sleep with the new CPAP), and I didn't have enough insulin with me today so my blood sugar went up, which always makes me tired)
Which would you do, out of curiosity?

One of the reasons I didn't get enough sleep last night was because of watching 'American Horror Story: Coven'. I didn't get home till midnight, and it usually takes awhile to wind down after that show, which is both disturbing and excellent storytelling. Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates are particularly great. I've gone from watching the occasional run of 'Doctor Who' to several shows, mostly with YKWIA. There's:
  1. Sunday: 'Witches of East End' [I have really bonded with the character of Ingrid Beauchamp, who is a librarian, among other things]
  2. Tuesday: 'The Originals' and 'Supernatural' [of the latter, the Dog Dean Afternoon this week was much better than I thought it would be, I must admit]
  3. Wednesday: 'The Tomorrow People' and 'American Horror Story: Coven' [the first I'm trying to give a chance, having loved the British series of that name as a child; the second is hand's down the best drama I'm watching at the moment]
  4. Thursday: 'The Big Bang Theory' {I'm really not much into sitcoms, but this makes me laugh so much I'm surprised I don't pee myself] (that I usually watch on my own; I think YKWIA records 'The Vampire Diaries', which I've seen some of, but not a lot]
  5. Friday: 'Grimm' [which I like, but haven't seen many of, yet]

I've had a quiet night enjoying being alone and having some 'me' time

relaxing to a Pandora channel for Loreena McKennitt and then watching the last two episodes of series one of 'Downton Abbey'. I really must watch the other two before I encounter many more spoilers--there was a trailer for series four on Facebook this morning that managed to give away something major and I'm going 'lalalalalalala' to make sure it doesn't really sink into my brain.

I must get up very early in the morning and take a friend to an appointment before work, so I'm going to keep this brief. Just wanted to check in. Turns out last night I got home and just didn't feel like going onto the computer. I'd had a nice meal of Chinese food from Jin Jin and a couple of episodes of 'Alphas', so it was a nice night, I was just tired. Oh, speaking of Chinese food, I saw two things on Facebook today that were hilarious. The first relates to Chinese food (can't vouch for the numbers):

Then there was this. Even our local YMCA shared this one (although like the other, I first saw it from George Takei):

Today I got a book on fitness for all everyone by the Mayo Clinic. It's full of useful info like how to start a cycling or walking programme, how to exercise for different conditions, etc. Now the trick is going to the Y and putting some of that into practice. I'm going to try to go after my gynaecology appointment tomorrow if I can.

Okay, that's enough for one night. Hope your week is going well. I'll try to write tomorrow. Good night.

Wow

Today I was energised, alert, and had a really pleasant day. For one thing, my blood sugar was near-normal all day. In fact, before lunch, it was 101. Even two hours after lunch, it was 121. That's very good. I'm still a little high in the mornings, but I suddenly realised this morning when updating my medication list that I'm supposed to take two metformin a day, and so I'm supposed to take an evening dose as well. That should help with the morning highs. But even so, it wasn't nearly as high as usual. And although I know part of it is water weight, I've lost 12 lbs since Thursday. Really. I was really productive today, and so much clearer mentally. When I got home, the first thing I did was change into my swimsuit and go to the pool, where I did exercises (I didn't really attempt to swim, exactly, nor did I float about, as there was a young girl splashing all over the place). But I did some good exercises and got my joints moving. That's what counts.

Tonight I have a quiet evening at home. I have a few things to do around the house. One of my co-workers really wants me to watch 'Downton Abbey', as she has finished season 3 and she's afraid she'll let something slip since I'm only five episodes into season 1. :) I think tonight I will watch some of that, and also start 'The Big Bang Theory' from the beginning. I might work on the game notes a bit, too, and get them squared away.

I do have a headache (I have almost all day), but I think that's because of the rain that's due tomorrow, and maybe because my blood sugar is lower than it has been, too. I'm resisting taking ibuprofen because Thursday is our blood drive at work and I don't want to have to have them mark it for having had aspirin/NSAIDs exposure. I do think I'll listen to some music for just a bit and rest my eyes, hopefully without actually going to sleep. I'll set several alarms. :)

So strange to have a third day off, and the weekend's still going strong

I'm mostly left to my own devices today, and I've just really gotten going this morning (I slept till 10!) Here's the plan for today:
  1. Get something to eat--I've missed breakfast at McDonalds's. I'm thinking maybe Taco Bell.
  2. Pick up a package that was delivered to work yesterday.
  3. Get my hair cut sometime after 1 pm, when Dee Dee will be at Supercuts at Regency.
  4. Go to the YMCA. Try out the pool if I can.
  5. Do the dishes.
  6. Straighten up the kitchen.
  7. Clean out the refrigerator.
  8. Bake bread.
  9. Clean the bathroom, giving it a good once-over.
  10. Work on the computer area.
  11. Straighten up around the dining table.
  12. Straighten up the couch.
  13. Go through the mail.
  14. Pay any bills due.
  15. Take out the trash and recyclables.
  16. Get some groceries.
  17. Clean and fill the fish tank.
  18. Do the hand-washable laundry.
  19. Put away the other laundry.
  20. Watch those last two episodes of 'Doctor Who'.
  21. Watch 'Downton Abbey' DVDs.
  22. Set up the Amazon Prime to run through the Roku box.
  23. Watch 'Grimm'.
Think I can get that all finished? :)

Ah, home--and a holiday tomorrow

So, I made it home, despite witnessing a near-accident that could have been very bad. A huge, rusting old motor home failed to yield as it turned onto New Circle Road from Richmond Road, and the cars coming from the other side had the green light. A yellow car nearly got forced into the hill that anchors the overpass, and they were side-by-side for several seconds, before the yellow car managed to get ahead of the mobile home. There were at least seven cars behind them, too, so it could have led to a very bad pileup. Fortunately I was on Richmond Road, stopped in traffic, and was in no danger, but it was still a little scary.

There's no telling yet whether Fourth of July will be great or fizzle. The weather forecast isn't looking good. I'll call security at work tomorrow afternoon to see if a decision has been made about the fireworks. If they're rained out, they'll be postponed to Sunday night, when I may or may not be able to go. But even if the festival and fireworks fizzle due to rain, there are plenty of things I can do inside as well. Besides the festival and fireworks, here are a few things I'd like to do over the next few days:
  1. Go to the YMCA. Once would be at least a good start. More than once would be ideal.
  2. See Despicable Me 2. I do love the Minions, and now they have a girl Minion and anti-Minions.
  3. Watch 'Downton Abbey' episodes, at least through season one.
  4. Watch 'Grimm' on Amazon Prime through the Roku box. I have season two recorded on the DVR, but haven't seen many from season one, either.
  5. Maybe get into the complex pool, if the weather cooperates.
Plus, there are things to do around the house, including hand-washable laundry, dishes, the dining table needs to be excavated, and a few little things to upkeep the place and make sure I'm not getting messy.

My plan, at this moment, is to have a quiet night at home. In honour of the anniversary of his birth, I got a Kindle version of a Franz Kafka collection, which includes all of his stories, including 'The Metamorphosis', but not including the novels, such as The Trial. I might read some of that tonight. There are many I haven't read before.

Okay, let me put up my plate and flatware. I had some corn on the cob from the farmer's market, and it was very nummy.

The rain is coming in...

so, of course, I'm avoiding laundry again. I am having a nice quiet night at home and have straightened up the house (I had some stuff on the table and couch that I'd brought in from last-minute prep for the vow renewal and the like, and I had an iron and ironing board out from working on some wrinkles in a shirt last Friday before work.) So, everything's in it's place or recycled. I do have just a few dishes to do. Mostly I've been lying in bed thinking (not exactly napping, just resting and thinking). I've had a lot on my mind lately and it sort of came to a head today. But it's rather personal, and even though I know I overshare in many cases on this blog, it isn't something to discuss here.

I made an appointment for next week to discuss making a will and other legal documents with my lawyer today. It's long overdue. I've done my advanced funeral planning and pay every month for that, but I don't actually have a will. Not that I have much in the way of property, mind you, but I should get my desires down on paper. The other documents are for what happens to me if I am unable to take care of myself or if the plug needs to be pulled. I have a do-it-yourself advanced directives, but this comes with the package, so it's nice to get one that I'm sure will hold up in court. Since I'm already a client, I get a little discount. :)

I'm not really feeling like watching anything, although I should be doing that, I'm so behind on things. I am starting to realise I mainly like watching TV with other people, and that's part of my problem. Perhaps I need to drag YKWIA over to my place to finish up 'Doctor Who', watch the first season of 'Grimm', etc. Oh, and there's 'Downton Abbey'. He hasn't seen any of them, although A and Brandon both really love them. I'm still working my way through the first season.

The movie we watched yesterday, The Four, which came out last year, was pretty decent. I'd compare it to a sort of Chinese X-Men: First Class kind of movie, with chi mastery and psychic ability in place of mutant powers. Not historical, not as one person put it, with the eloquency of Shakespeare, but a nice fantasy with lots of action and a decent story. I am tempted to get the DVD. It is part of a planned trilogy and is based on a book called The Four Detective Guards or The Four Constables by Wen Rui-An, which doesn't appear to be available in English at Amazon except in comic form, and then number 1 is not available. It is available in Chinese as Ni Shui Hai--Four Famous Detectives. Ah, well.

I think I'm back

to some semblance of normalcy. I woke up this morning and it's like someone turned the dial and my mood seemed, well, mostly okay. That's how it happens. sometimes. It's like the hormones and brain chemistry just shifted into place. I'm not going to complain.

I went over to YKWIA's for awhile and we watched the very last 'Jam & Jerusalem'. I'll miss Sal, Tip, Rosie, and the others. It was a fun little show.

Now I'm home and contemplating what to do next. I need to go over my lease and sign it, but it's not vital I do that tonight. I might watch a little something or maybe read--I haven't decided. I'm hopelessly behind on shows like 'Doctor Who', 'Grimm', and 'Downton Abbey'. What I do know is that it's time to take out the contacts and get into comfy clothes. Then I think I'll check out some stuff online. I haven't touched the computer at home in something like three days--I've been blogging (what little I've been doing) from my phone while curled up in a ball in bed.

If I don't write anymore tonight, I hope your week is going well. Take care.

Reading

Life Below Stairs: True Lives of Edwardian Servants by Alison Maloney. What can I say, it's a library book I have on my Kindle that piqued my interest because of my watching 'Downton Abbey'. :) It didn't get great reviews on Amazon, mainly because it has supposedly drawn largely on secondary sources rather than original research, but it is interesting so far and lays out the hierarchy of house servants and their domains very well. It has gotten me interested in a book that is older but does contain a lot of original work, Frank Dawes' Not in Front of the Servants: A True Portrait of English Upstairs/Downstairs Life, which is available on Abebooks.com at several sellers for a reasonable price. Keep in mind, although my focus of study in history was European history prior to 1789, it was also especially in social history, so I find this an interesting subject.

Just got in

after an enjoyable evening with friends and working on some computer issues, most of which seemed to have resolved due to my mere presence (isn't that the way of tech issues, you're having trouble until the tech person comes to fix it, and then the computer/printer/other piece of hardware smiles and just works beautifully). But I must admit, I'm tired and ready for bed. Today was good. I did get my CDs and DVDs. I'm so psyched to have them. It's obviously too late tonight to watch any of 'Downton Abbey', but maybe tomorrow I can watch episode 5 of series 1 and then try an episode each day for awhile. I have been listening to the music, since I had that through AutoRip immediately, and the Adele CD played beautifully in the car.

Tomorrow I have to catch up on interlibrary loans (I've had as many requests in two days as I usually do in a busy two weeks), and I also have a doctor's appointment late in the afternoon. Then I'm going to try to go the pharmacy if they're still open, and hopefully have some time at home tomorrow evening.

Okay, I'm just too tired to really write much more. Good night. Hey, we're at least over the hump and heading toward the weekend.

Yay!

My 'Downton Abbey' DVDs and the CDs I ordered the other day have made it to Lexington and should be delivered tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. The snow is coming down; it's very pretty. I hope it's not too bad for the commute tomorrow but I'm glad I came on home before it started. It was just turning over from rain to a sort of blobby stuff when I drove home. Tomorrow evening it should be fine and I can do some things for YKWIA on the computer after work.

I'm still stuffy and I have a lot of sinus pressure, and I'm sneezing, but generally doing much better. I did take a nap when I got home, though, and I think I'll go to bed early. Yesterday I dropped some stuff off at a friend's and some guy was going up and down the street trying to get people to buy meat or seafood off his truck. He seemed quite annoyed with the fact no one was taking him up on it, and more annoyed when I explained that both the house and I were vegetarian (I did leave the pescetarian aspect out--but really, who buys fish off a truck that runs around the neighbourhood like an ice cream truck?) And this wasn't Schwann's or some place I'd ever hear of. It had 'butcher' in the title, I remember. And the guy's name was Brad, and he kind of hung out in the yard until I got out of my car and sort of pounced into his spiel. Very weird.

Okay, I think it's time to go to bed. Hope you're having a good week. Good night.

I'm finally feeling up to maybe watching a little TV

Not that there was anything on cable, really, so I'm watching the fourth episode of 'Downton Abbey', series 1. The sun has come out a bit. I just discovered that only series 1 is available on Netflix streaming (all three are available via DVD). But, series 2 is available on Amazon Prime instant video, and I have access to that as a Prime member, including on my Roku box on the TV, so that's good. But I really do love these so much, I think I'll break down and get the UK original uncut versions on DVD.
