Random things about this week

  • Sunday we didn't actually play the game.  Brenda came over, and we talked and played The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game, which was quite fun.  We mostly visited and snacked.  Afterwards, I applied for the second time for a job that had been re-posted from the public library.  I'd love to work there, I'd love to do this particular job, it's a great branch to work in serving a diverse population, and yes, it would mean more money and better financial security.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that at the very least I'll get an interview.  Given my track record of getting nervous and tanking during interviews, cross your fingers again that I'll actually do well on that.  I've got a couple of books on questions to ask and answer and I'm thinking (at a co-worker's suggestion) of running through scenarios with YKWIA, who is a good critic.  The little dog apparently went into the bedroom and harrumphed as she laid down because I froze her out of my room with the fans on, YWKIA told me later.  She's older and gets cold easily.
  • Monday:  I had to shoo a duck out of the driveway to go to work.  She was quacking in an annoyed fashion and walking up to the house when I left.  Work was busy.  I came home, was asleep by 8 or 8:30 pm, and woke up just long enough to take my medicine at midnight.
  • Tuesday:  It was a good day at work.  Either Monday or Tuesday (I can't remember), there was a spectacular car wreck outside our building where someone ran the red light and one vehicle was literally on top of the other.  One person got out on their own, and (I think the one on top) had to be taken out.  Hope no one was seriously hurt.  I came home, had dinner, fed the dogs, and still fell asleep by 7:30 pm and woke up at midnight.  I'm not really sure why I was so tired.
  • Wednesday: I started out the day by accidentally killing either a small rat or a baby opossum by turning on my car engine, which bothered me greatly, but thank goodness it wasn't the neighbour's cat.  It was another busy day at work.  There was a major accident at Alumni and Nicholasville Road that I avoided while taking a co-worker to her car at her boyfriend's workplace.  Despite all that (I do have driving anxiety, after all), I ventured back out and went to the church where the Bluegrass Orchid Society meets, only to wander aimlessly through a very large church wing trying to find it.  I finally ran into some nice ladies who were members of the church, one of whom had the phone number for the president of the society.  Apparently, their speaker came down with pneumonia and they couldn't come up with a replacement programme, so they cancelled it by letting the membership know by phone and posting it on their Facebook page (which I neglected to check, so that's on me).  They may reschedule that talk (on general orchid culture) to a later date.  There is one in May on orchids and viruses.  I may go to that. But kudos to me for speaking up and asking for directions, as I'm shy and don't usually do great at approaching strangers, even nice middle-aged and older women.  That night I checked my account, and I discovered that the treasurer for the state association for health science librarians to which I belong cashed my dues cheque a day early when she said she'd hold it, thereby over-draughting my account. :(  She must have forgotten.  I'm debating if I should mention it or not. I'm sure she would apologise, but it's not going to undo the damage.  The fee was twice the amount of the cheque, which at least was paid by the bank, so I guess that's a bright side. I almost never write cheques because it's harder to track when they'll come out.  I so should have mailed it in.
  • Thursday:  I had a blood draw first thing in the morning and got up early for that.  YKWIA had me move the carcass out of the driveway before I left. I saw a former friend/co-worker there at the doctor's office and caught up with her on what's been going on our lives. Then I went to work and was in physical therapy almost all day learning how to do things so that I can fill in for a woman who's going on maternity leave.  It's a much slower pace but there's a lot of little things to do with many steps that require a good bit of work.  Then I went back upstairs for about a half an hour and caught up on my e-mail and checked out the last patient.  A co-worker went with me to the pharmacy to pick up some medicine YKWIA needed, and then she treated me to an excellent dinner at Planet Thai as a birthday treat.  It was absolutely wonderful.  I had fried tofu (which I adore, although every Thai restaurant I've been to does it differently) and three-flavour (I think that was what it was called) fish, in this case, salmon,  with a medium (3 on a scale of 5) spice.  It made my sinuses run, was very tasty, and was very filling.  Feliz' drunken noodles came in a huge order; I think 3/4 of it had to go home in a box.  We had a good time and talked a lot.  I feel like we're kindred souls.  I'm pretty jazzed from lots of Diet Pepsi, too.  I took her to her car and then stopped by the grocery for bananas.  Now I'm home and I've changed into comfy clothes.  I think I'll listen to some music before bed.
  • Tomorrow should be a calm day at work, a catch-up day (I have about five issues to e-mail about).  I don't really have plans for tomorrow evening. It should be about 76 degrees tomorrow (it was close today), which is remarkable given that we had snow early this week, freeze warnings every night, and frost on the cars in the morning.  As far as my productivity at home, I think I'm falling asleep early to avoid the financial issues I'm having.  I should sit down and work on finances, as my bills are piling up and I'm really not sure what to do about it.  It's like everything's haemorrhaging out.  It's really my main subject of stress. I don't have enough to pay for the preparation of my tax forms, which are sitting at H&R Block, and next week is the deadline for filing--and let's not even get into what I actually owe for my taxes.  I don't get paid for two more weeks.  I'm not sure what to do.  Things are looking bleak.  Maybe YKWIA, who is quite sensible about the management of money, can help me get back on track in terms of planning.  I don't know.  That money could milk money from a walnut.
So anyway, that's what's going on in my life.  It's just a little below average due to the financial woes, which will pass eventually, especially when I sit down and face them head on, which I will do tomorrow and this weekend, for I really don't have much choice.  Avoiding the situation further will only make it worse. :(  Otherwise work and personal life is going well.  So while my emotion tracker on my phone, Daylio, has been set at 'meh' a lot lately, it's not too terrible.  'Good' has to be just around the corner, and 'rad' days will happen, too. Let's try to avoid 'fugly'. :)

It was a slow start to

What I choose to call my first day of 'job freedom', but it all worked out to be a decent day. I woke up at 8:30, downloaded some job materials to a thumb drive, looked over my unemployment paperwork again (they came to our workplace a few weeks ago and explained things and gave us a folder). At 10 am I found myself procrastinating the actual trip to the unemployment office, now called the career centre. I actually laid down. YKWIA called and caught me, literally, trying to nap about 10:45 am and mocked me into getting up, getting a shower, and going out the door. So I drove over to the office and got there a little after noon, presented my ID, and then filled out online form (I'd already created the résumé, which was required, on their site prior to being laid off), asked a couple of questions, waited to be called, spoke with a counselor, and got my dates for requesting benefits and reviewing eligibility. He also gave me info on classes run by the University of Kentucky over off Red Mile Road, where recruiters come and may do on-site interviews, so you should dress like you would for an interview. I saw two of my fellow laid-off coworkers while I was there, one of the maintenance guys and a cook from dietary.

I came on home about 1:45 and listened to music for a bit, then went to an appointment. I'm going to go to twice-weekly classes that week help me better be able to exercise better, starting Thursday.

After that I got my allergy shot, came home to check the mail, and then YKWIA called wanting a ride to take A some food, as he was languishing after working several hours at both jobs. I went to the library while they ate and checked out books on job searching and three CDs. Then I took YKWIA to the store for creamer, fed the dogs and cat for him, and now I'm home. I'm getting A from work in a couple of hours, at midnight.

Tomorrow I:

1. Go over and wake up YKWIA at 7 am.
2. Take him and a dog to the vet.
3. Drop him off at the library for a programme.
4. Go to a meeting of the Kentucky Medical Library Association, where I can meet with my colleagues and network.
5. Go to see a doctor for medication management.

That's it, so far, anyway. I'm definitely staying busy.

Yesterday I was away from my phone for awhile

and when I returned, I had a text message saying a close relative was on life support. Another family member had called, asking for an update, and another e-mailed. I called the her husband, who texted me, got some details, and put my laundry that I had been doing at my friends' house, which was still damp or wet, into the car and went over to the University of Kentucky, to one of the ICUs in the hospital there for a couple of hours. I won't go into the particulars, but my family member is very, very sick. Today she is at least awake, although unable to talk due to the variety of tubes, including a ventilator, but is breathing on her own as well and hopefully will be off it soon. So there has been some improvement. But she'd still in pretty bad shape, and it was sad to watch her trying to communicate without being able to. I went over after work, getting caught in a traffic snarl when a procession for a paramedic from a local community who had been struck by a vehicle while on duty last week, and who has since died, was held to carry his body home, which I thought was a very sweet and moving thing to do, so it didn't matter to me that it took me 20 minutes to go one block to get to the hospital parking structure. I stayed till about 7, grabbing some food at the hospital cafeteria with her husband and stepson before I left. Then I came home and updated some other family members and spent awhile on the phone with YKWIA about what was going on. Anyway, it's been a rough couple of days, particularly for her.

Tomorrow evening I get a physical therapy evaluation for my neck and back, and there's appointments after work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to take a friend to. I'm also trying to get ready for my Chicago trip next week, and working on that job application. Tomorrow I'm in scheduling for the morning and have a webconference for a meeting of a professional organisaton, the Kentucky Medical Library Association, in the afternoon, and then there's PT, so I'll most likely not be able to go visit after then. But her husband said he'd keep me posted.

I think I'll go do some reading and maybe listen to some music and wind down for the night. Tomorrow morning is an early day at work, so I'll turn in pretty soon. Good night.

Oh...ow...

Earlier this evening I hurt my neck, and spasms have gone down all the way to my lower back. At first I could barely move it at all. Now I'm mostly okay when going to the left, but moving it to the right sends pain through the muscles of the neck and down into my back. I was having pain and a little numbness in my foot and hand on the left side earlier; now I'm not sure. I did come home and immediately took a very low dose of tizanidine, a muscle relaxer, and half a Percocet that I had left over from my knee surgery last year. I almost never take anything stronger than ibuprofen or acetaminophen, but the pain was the type that took your breath away. I am having trouble bending down at all, because the spasms went down to my lower back and it's messed up as well. The midback muscles are tight and the pain reaches around to right under the shoulders into the sides and even into my pectoral muscles on the chest. So I'm pretty stiff and while not in the pain I was, I still hurt. I have cervical degenerative disc disease anyway, which translates to bulging discs in my neck, and my neck curvature is opposite of what it's supposed to be, on a straight and J-shaped spine rather than the normal S-curve. So it's easy to make it worse. If I still feel bad tomorrow, I'll try to get in to my doctor's office for an evaluation.

I laid down about 7 pm and woke up just before midnight, feeling pretty decent until I moved. Apparently in that time I moved over to my left side and got my pillow back (I had been keeping my neck straight on the mattress). When I moved to my right side, it was a different story. I went ahead and got up. I'm eating a breakfast sandwich and thought I'd post on my week so far. I know I haven't really done much writing the last few days. Sorry about that. Sunday was the game, of course, and I don't normally write then because, well, I'm usually pretty tired afterwards, especially when we play late, which we did, till about 9:30, and I got home around 10:30 pm, so I'd been over there about 13 and a half hours, and we played about seven.

I think I mentioned that I was feeling overwhelmed at work. If not, let me do so now. I'm working three positions in a standard 40-hour work week, and I'm non-exempt, meaning I clock in and out and should not have overtime. On Monday morning I was in scheduling from 9 am-noon, had lunch, and then my temporary boss asked me to come back from 2-3 pm since a couple of people were leaving at 2. I did so, but wound up there till 3:45 pm. Then I desperately started tackling the backlog of charge sheets I had to enter. I usually work on the same day or maybe the day after at the most. Monday I was working on a giant stack from last Wednesday, where we'd had a very crazy busy clinic. I couldn't work down a list like usual because it had been more than the same day or the day before, so I had to look each encounter up by financial number, which slowed me down, and also, some numbers had been punched through and I had to look them up by medical record number instead, which further slowed me down.

My regular boss came by to ask me about the referral queue, which normally has about 7 or so encounters on it in a 10-day period at the beginning of the week, and had 65 or so this time. I simply have not been able to work it down, and it has crept up each week that I've worked in scheduling, then jumped up this past week, with all the charge sheets I got. He found me sitting there attempting to get through my giant stack of charges, and we wound up having a long talk about how it's affecting my work. I was very candid. I also admitted that I'm not particularly assertive, and probably shouldn't have agreed to help extra when I was so far behind, but I hadn't expected to be there for almost an additional hour. I also told him that I've been having to use almost every moment I'm not in scheduling to try to keep up with the revenue cycle job. I'm even further behind on the library; I've done a few interlibrary loans and troubleshot the copiers or helped others with the computers, but otherwise, no, I haven't been doing much to keep the library going. I have a large stack of books that are stacked up about four feet tall behind my desk. I need to put out new journals, and have two large stacks of them. There are some donated books I was going to put out but haven't. The clinical early literacy programme cart hasn't been filled--that sort of thing. And I told him all this.

On Tuesday, I went in early and was finally able to, between the hour and a half I had in the quiet of the morning and then being able to work between phone calls in scheduling, I was able to get through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday's charges, then picked up Monday's and did them. I also worked on the monthly audit, various reports, and caught up on the OR charge reconciliation. My temporary boss came by and we talked for awhile. Instead of working three days and 12-15 hours a week over in scheduling, we decided I wouldn't come in on Wednesday, and then each Friday for the next three weeks we'd decide on one day for me to come by and help depending on my schedule and workload and their clinic numbers and staffing. In about three weeks, they'll have more information about when or if the person I'm sitting in for will return, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I felt a lot better after I talked to her.

Today I went in and really hit the referral queue, and got some of it down. I'll do more tomorrow. I did the normal OR reconciliation (I do it every day, normally). I did the rest of the sheets from yesterday and the ones they had for today by about 2 pm. Then at 3:30 I needed to leave for a doctor's appointment. I went to it, got some refill prescriptions for my psych meds, and then went to the pharmacy and picked up a friend's medication. I went over there briefly, at which point the neck injury happened, and I came on home. Which bring us back around to the present. Tomorrow I hope to really bring the referral queue down, especially by Friday, as a report is run Monday. If I can do that, I'll be in better shape. The plan is to totally catch up and then be in good shape for when I go to Chicago later in the month, as I'll miss two days.

Did I mention my itinerary for the Chicago trip? I think I may have. Anyway, I fly out of Lexington at 6 am on a Thursday to Atlanta, with an hour and a half to navigate through that nightmare of an airport, and then into Chicago O'Hare, travel by train to the Medical District, check into the hotel, and go to the meeting. The next day I leave the hotel, go by train to Midway, and then fly to Detroit, where I have an hour and a half layover, before getting into Lexington about 3 pm. So I'll be doing a lot of travelling, and I'll travel four states, five airports, that sort of thing, all for a four-hour meeting. :) Ah, well. I saw the forecast for Chicago that went right up to my trip, and it looks like it'll be in the upper 40s, low 50s while I'm there, although I don't know the rain chance yet--the day before is 20%. I did e-mail them today about the hotel--I hadn't heard anything yet, but they've reserved the block of rooms but are waiting for the confirmations from the hotel, so all is well. Tomorrow I need to e-mail the Kentucky Medical Library Association to get their input before the trip (they have a meeting on the 10th, and while I can't make it to Louisville, will attempt to join the meeting remotely), and also I need to ask them if they want me to continue being the state representative to this committee now that the University of Chicago at Illinois is in its last year of a five-year contract, or if they'd like to appoint someone else in the upcoming cycle. I've really enjoyed being able to participate and the travel has been wonderful, as I never have had a travel budget at work, have never gone to a major conference, that sort of thing. I did miss one year, the 2012 meeting, when I got hit by the car and broke my ankle, but I've been to Chicago now three times, and I'm about to go again. Last time I was able to stay an extra day at my own expense and experience a little more of the town, including going to the Field Museum. I can't do that this time, but still, I'm looking forward to it (although maybe not that many airports!) And this time I can mark Michigan off of the number of states I've been to. :) I think that makes just over half. Anyway, I'm grateful for the opportunity, but someone else might want a chance to do it, and it would be a good time to change, since either UIC or someone else will start the new contract cycle next year.

Okay, I think I'm going to go on back to bed. It's been an hour of sitting and I'm hurting a little. Good night!

I've got the windows up

and am in the dining area at the laptop with the fan on breeze setting. I've washed the handwash dishes and am running a load through the dish washer right now. I just filled the ice cube trays with water and took some bread out of the freezer so I'll have peanut butter and spreadable fruit tomorrow for lunch.

Tonight I plan on working on the game notes for Sunday and starting a book for a review that is due at the end of the month. I also want to tweak my online résumé and curriculum vitae, as I made a date mistake the other day when I did that in terms of when the Kentucky Medical Library Association was created from the two previous consortia that were in the state. I'd used the date of the by-laws, but going back in my e-mail at work I realised the group began meeting three years before the by-laws were actually ratified. Anyway, that's a quick change, and then to put them in .pdf format and put them back up on Google Sites will take almost no time. It will mean going over to the other computer, as it has the original files. I should update those on Dropbox so I have access to them anywhere. I think I'll do that first, then some reading. It's a fairly short book, so it shouldn't take long to go through. Then I can work on the notes.

Today went much like yesterday. I took a printout of my OR reconciliation sheets, along with my charge sheets and referral worksheets, over with me to scheduling, and worked on them in between phone calls, and that worked really well, despite it being our busiest clinic day of the week and all. I got caught up on yesterday's charge sheets this morning as a result, checked over the reconciliation, worked on preparations for referrals (although I didn't make the calls--last time I worked on one of them I was on hold for 20 minutes after being transferred twice, only to have it hang up on me, and I didn't want to repeat the experience with people trying to get through on the line). This afternoon I worked on library things and also on an error report, which involved tracking down my mistakes, crediting extra charges, and putting charges onto other encounters they should have been on. I don't normally make three mistakes in a month, so it was a little disconcerting. It was mostly things like putting charges onto similar names or going back into an encounter without realising I'd already put the charge in. I'm going to have to be more vigilant and go back to verifying my work more closely. I also realised after listening to the person in checkout that the three people I checked out yesterday, while they did get their school excuses, were never given a printout of their next visit time and details. That was a minor oops on my part. But considering I went back after eight months and pretty much just went straight into things, just asking when I couldn't remember something, I think I did alright.

I'm feeling a bit restless for some reason, although part of me wants to go on to sleep. It's a weird feeling. I keep fussing with things, straightening them up, which isn't a bad thing, mind you, I need to do more of that. It's just a little odd, this feeling.

I think I'll go in early again tomorrow. It's working out so I have some time before going over to scheduling. I got some books in from a regular order and also some children's book for the early literacy project, so I need to put those away. That will give me the opportunity to. Thursday and Friday I should just be in the library, and it'll be a slower clinic, so I can fill up the cart of children's books, at least by Friday afternoon, after clinic.

Okay, I'm going to go now. Have a good night if I don't write anymore this evening.

Tonight was 'iZombie' night, but

the friend I was going to watch it had a headache and wasn't feeling well, so we let it record on the DVR and I rubbed his feet till he fell asleep. I'm hoping we can watch it sometime this week.

Today I have:
  1. Gotten up incredibly early in order to get my friend to an appointment
  2. Taken said friend to said appointment
  3. Forgotten to clock in the new way (I'm a test subject, and they decided to start this on the first day back from a holiday weekend, so I don't think I was the only one who forgot and totally ignored the signs. But I clocked out correctly.) :)
  4. Discovered that our hospital system has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network. But we're still us. It's a partnership, not a takeover or merger. I'm still wrapping my head around it to understand exactly what that means.
  5. Managed to spill orange soda all over my desk during a web conference with the Kentucky Medical Library Association meeting that was in Louisville today. I'm so glad that I didn't have a camera and microphone at my desk. Mind you, I never spill cola or water. Just orange soda. I've had it there about three times in all the time I've been there, and I've spilled it twice. :(
  6. Went and got my allergy shots after work.
  7. Came home, watched 'Emergency!' while I ate, and then took a nap.
  8. Went over to my friends' house, watched a bit of The Sentinel with Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria, and Kim Basinger. Pilled a dog who was fine with a tiny pill in a bit of bread and peanut butter, but the big pill she just kept getting bits of the nummy stuff and spitting out the pill. I finally had to coat it in peanut butter, force it into her mouth and then make her lick my peanut-butter-covered fingers until she swallowed. But I got it down her. My hands still smell like peanut butter, though, even after being washed several times.
Okay, I've blogged quite a bit tonight. I didn't really do anything to the house tonight. Perhaps tomorrow? But I think I'll go ahead and get off the computer for now. Tomorrow I have an appointment in the late afternoon. We'll be exactly one week out from the class I'm teaching. Also, the Books are Fun book fair is coming to the hospital tomorrow. Yay!

Quite a storm has come up

I stopped by YKWIA's after work for just a bit to help him with something and then went over to Office Depot looking for a USB headset with microphone to use tomorrow for a meeting of the Kentucky Medical Library Association via GoToMeeting. I just couldn't justify a drive to Louisville and back for a three-hour meeting when I've got data entry to do, especially since, due to some issues today, I'm behind on putting the data in, so I'll have to catch up tomorrow morning.

I got some things over at Office Depot and came out of the store just as the sprinkling began, with the clouds very dark, lightning striking in the distance, and a flash flood/thunderstorm warning issued on my phone. From Woodhill to about Speedway on Richmond Road the skies had opened up in a deluge, but I drove ahead of the storm, got in the house without getting very wet, and now it's very dark outside and I suspect the more rain is coming. My across-the-hall neighbour has fixed some form of Indian food that smells wonderful. I'm eating a bit of pimiento cheese with crackers and a banana. It is sad by comparison. But I should be going over to Masala in Beaumont for some tasty Indian food soon with friends.

There are some things I need to do around the house tonight, but they'll have to wait until the storm clears. My keyboard is acting a bit weird, typing slowly at times like the buffer or connexion is messed up whenever I backspace, so I think I'll sign off of here for just a bit. It's a little odd, as it is a wired ergonomic keyboard. It may be somehow related to the storm. I'll write later.

By the way

The seminar I attended yesterday as part of our Kentucky Medical Library Association meeting, 'The Librarian and the Evidence: Our Role in EBHC', was excellent. The instructor was Lisa Traditi of the University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences Library. I knew very little about Evidence-Based Practice (aka Evidence-Based Medicine aka Evidence-Based Health Care) and it was a good overview of what EBP is and how librarians can be invaluable to clinicians. If you have a chance to see her speak, do so. She is very engaging and made the material rather fun.

One of the things she did to break the ice was give out catalogue cards (see, a use for obsolete cards!) and have us write three things about us on the back, two of which we thought would be true of everyone in the room, and then one that we thought would be unique to us as individuals. Then she had everyone stand as she read off some of the cards and then sit down when something wasn't true about us. One thing we discovered is that not just one but two people in the room were down in the mud pit at Woodstock. :)

Back home at last

I left a note for my boss at the gas station that I'm on foot/bus, so I can't get from job #1 to job #2 in the fifteen minutes it normally takes, therefore she should schedule me at 4 pm or later. I got some quarters and money for the bus pass. Then I headed over to GB Shoe Warehouse, where I found of all things a pair of black New Balance shoes on 75% off sale, meaning what was $72 originally was now $18, and the only pair happened to be in my size. Woo-hoo!

After that, I met a very helpful woman on the way into the transit centre who told me of her various ailments due to bus accidents but also ins and outs of bus riding, which was useful as I'm out or practice.

I got my bus pass and brochure, made it to my destination without incident, did various things like reading the second Necroscope book with a friend (we're doing a chapter at a time), then headed back. I did go to the wrong stop, but a helpful bus drive informed me of it and the bus I did need came a few minutes after, so I didn't miss the right one.

Whilst I was waiting, five youths came up and waited as well, working on rap songs they'd heard. They weren't bad, as rap goes, meaning they had good rhythm and cadence. It did stray into some vulgarity concerning how a woman cannot shake her backside with a man's member inside, but I chose to ignore them. But the amusing thing is that they kept getting attacked by a bat. I saw it fly in when they were across the street. Suddenly one cried, 'Bat! Bat!' and they scattered. Then they came over and waited with me. Once we went back to the other side of the street to wait for the inbound bus, the bat returned. I never moved, but they panicked. It was a little amusing. Later, when I called YKWIA to let him know I was home safely, he said I should have said in a low, creepy voice 'The bats are my friends.' :)

There was a man on the bus with a beer belly who was wearing a shirt five sizes too small for him. Why do people do that?

Anyway, it was somewhat of an adventure. I got various things from my car during my visit, including my work badge for the hospital, work shirt for the gas station, and umbrella for rain. I happened to have a backpack in the car (for the gym, with my swimsuit and workout clothes), so I put some books in there and everything else I could fit. It's good to have that off my shoulders.

Okay, I need to do notes and then head on to bed. I have to get up tomorrow since I need to go downtown and then transfer to the Nicholasville Road bus to get to my consortium meeting. It takes awhile to get anywhere with our bus system. They run every 30 minutes during peak times and every hour otherwise. It occurs to me that I haven't the faintest idea where at Central Baptist this is happening, and there are several buildings. I plan to go to the medical library there and hope there's someone with directions.

Here's a LexTran commercial for beating gas prices:

Got a clean bill of health from the podiatrist

and some samples of a foot cream that soaks in through the thick skin of the foot. It's over the counter but kept behind it in the pharmacy.

I'm about to go on an adventure on the bus for the first time in a couple of years. I'm going to get a 20-punch pass for $15 dollars and a brochure with all the times and maps in it if possible. Coming back home from YKWIA's is a bit of a challenge; the night service runs on a different route, and it's unclear from the map which bus stop at the designated crossroad I take to go back in.

But first, I'm at the library right now (it's near my doctor's office), I'm going to head over to the bank and gas station to get money/laundry quarters and check on whether there's a new schedule or not, and maybe go by GB Warehouse to see about some sturdier shoes since I'll be walking more. My sandals and New Balance athletic shoes are both in sad shape. I don't have much to spend, maybe $20, but it may be enough to find something that will work for now. Fortunately, although I have to cross two major roads, I live near a grocery, several eateries, clothing and department stores, etc., etc. Another good thing, at least I don't have to worry about gas for the next couple of weeks at least. :)

Tomorrow I have a library seminar/consortium meetingn for the Kentucky Medical Library Association at Central Baptist. I'm glad it's in Lexington and on a bus route, at least. But I'm not going to be able to do both that and my physical therapy. :( I'm not sure if the bus even goes down to Tates Creek Centre yet, so that may be a challenge.

I'll write later. Remind me to tell you about the game. Have a good day.
