Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

Really? The Librarian Missed This?
Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Tonight was 'iZombie' night, but
Today I have:
- Gotten up incredibly early in order to get my friend to an appointment
- Taken said friend to said appointment
- Forgotten to clock in the new way (I'm a test subject, and they decided to start this on the first day back from a holiday weekend, so I don't think I was the only one who forgot and totally ignored the signs. But I clocked out correctly.) :)
- Discovered that our hospital system has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network. But we're still us. It's a partnership, not a takeover or merger. I'm still wrapping my head around it to understand exactly what that means.
- Managed to spill orange soda all over my desk during a web conference with the Kentucky Medical Library Association meeting that was in Louisville today. I'm so glad that I didn't have a camera and microphone at my desk. Mind you, I never spill cola or water. Just orange soda. I've had it there about three times in all the time I've been there, and I've spilled it twice. :(
- Went and got my allergy shots after work.
- Came home, watched 'Emergency!' while I ate, and then took a nap.
- Went over to my friends' house, watched a bit of The Sentinel with Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria, and Kim Basinger. Pilled a dog who was fine with a tiny pill in a bit of bread and peanut butter, but the big pill she just kept getting bits of the nummy stuff and spitting out the pill. I finally had to coat it in peanut butter, force it into her mouth and then make her lick my peanut-butter-covered fingers until she swallowed. But I got it down her. My hands still smell like peanut butter, though, even after being washed several times.

I just remembered
There's a book fair at work tomorrow, one of those Books are Fun ones. Even though I was saving up for the trip, I'd been looking forward to it. :-) Oh, well. They come every six months or so. I am sure they'll be back.
I thought it odd that I could go six hours with this medicine, rather than only four, then checked and it's a higher formulation than what the ER gave me. It certainly seems to be managing the pain better.
I think I am going to ask my office mate to bring me the fan on my desk for those rare times I am in the living area. I feel like I need air flowing and I only have the big fan in the bedroom.
Other things I need to ask for:
1) toilet paper
2) bread, oh, wait, I have some in the freezer, scratch that
3) hand soap
4) soda (a little; I've mostly been drinking water)
5) cheese
6) alcohol pads
The big grocery run is tomorrow, sans me, of course. I'll see if Brenda can bring me over these things and maybe return the library books I couldn't renew to the branch across the street. I have some due tomorrow. I'll check to see if more are coming due...the pre-op appointment Friday is on the same street.
Four days of sponge baths are leaving me feeling less than fresh. I also really need to do some laundry. Not sure how to work that out. Even if I had enough hands the laundrette is across the parking lot several buildings down, and down stairs. I have come to accept that someone is going to have to do it for me.
Okay, I'm getting tired. Have a good night. I think I am going to turn in.
