Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

For someone
Who does not normally watch television, I am fairly committed this season:
Monday: 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'Minority Report'
Tuesday: 'iZombie'
Thursday:' Heroes Reborn'
Friday: 'Grimm' (starting October 30th)
It would be Wednesday, too, but I'm too wussy for 'American Horror Story'. And of course, 'Doctor Who' is an issue with YKWIA, who can't understand Peter Capaldi. So Saturday is more for Netflix, like 'Lost Girl' and 'Haven'. (YKWIA also won't watch SyFy due to how they spell their logo, so we catch those shows on Netflix rather than cable.) ;)
Okay, good night!

Tonight was 'iZombie' night, but
Today I have:
- Gotten up incredibly early in order to get my friend to an appointment
- Taken said friend to said appointment
- Forgotten to clock in the new way (I'm a test subject, and they decided to start this on the first day back from a holiday weekend, so I don't think I was the only one who forgot and totally ignored the signs. But I clocked out correctly.) :)
- Discovered that our hospital system has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network. But we're still us. It's a partnership, not a takeover or merger. I'm still wrapping my head around it to understand exactly what that means.
- Managed to spill orange soda all over my desk during a web conference with the Kentucky Medical Library Association meeting that was in Louisville today. I'm so glad that I didn't have a camera and microphone at my desk. Mind you, I never spill cola or water. Just orange soda. I've had it there about three times in all the time I've been there, and I've spilled it twice. :(
- Went and got my allergy shots after work.
- Came home, watched 'Emergency!' while I ate, and then took a nap.
- Went over to my friends' house, watched a bit of The Sentinel with Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria, and Kim Basinger. Pilled a dog who was fine with a tiny pill in a bit of bread and peanut butter, but the big pill she just kept getting bits of the nummy stuff and spitting out the pill. I finally had to coat it in peanut butter, force it into her mouth and then make her lick my peanut-butter-covered fingers until she swallowed. But I got it down her. My hands still smell like peanut butter, though, even after being washed several times.

One thing I agree with the Germans about
I will be somewhat brief tonight, as I missed my allergy shot this afternoon, so I'm going to try to go in early tomorrow so I can do it tomorrow afternoon before my friend's appointment. Today was technically one of my early days, but I had a slew of things to do this afternoon when all was said and done, so I'm glad I voted in the primary election very early this morning rather than putting it off.
I did find out why my check engine light is on in the car (it popped up right before the odometer hit 50,000 miles). The code most likely points to a faulty exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, or its corresponding sensor. I was told that while it should be fixed, a month or two should be okay if I'm not having issues, which is good, as I don't have the money to do it just now. I wanted to double-check, as I will be making the trip to Louisville in a couple of weeks.
I told my counselor of my anxiety about driving and how I planned to do some practice runs before going to Louisville by interstate. She copied some pages from The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook, and I think they include a useful exercise. Actually, when I did some poking around, the whole book sounded quite useful. I looked it up at the library, but their copies were missing or lost. Amazon had both paperback and Kindle versions. Since it's a workbook, with worksheets, I thought the paperback copy would be more useful, so I used some of my credit card bonus rewards and bought it. I should be getting it Thursday, which isn't too bad, considering I no longer have Amazon Prime, as I couldn't afford to renew it when the price went up.
I did a lot of running around after work today, driving for about 2 1/2 hours around the city in rush hour traffic. I:
- Went to the pharmacy for a friend
- Had my car checked due to the check engine light
- Put a cheque in the bank
- Grabbed some Taco Bell for dinner
- Picked some Marmite up at the store for a friend
- 'House of Anubis'
- 'iZombie'
- 'Lab Rats'
Okay, I should head on to bed. The headache is easing up somewhat. Good night!

A little excited
Sorry I haven't blogged in a couple of days. Sunday I came home a little early because Brenda had a meeting so we cut the game a couple of hours short. I went straight to bed for a couple of hours and then called YKWIA at 9:30 (I set an alarm) so he'd be able to watch 'Salem'. But he recorded it so A and I could watch it later. Monday was a friend's '5th birthday' in a 12-step programme and we went to his celebration. It lasted till 9 or 9:30. I got home around 11 pm, and had to be up at 6 am, so I didn't get much sleep as it was and couldn't really bring myself to blog. But I'm glad I went, and I got to meet his co-worker/distant cousin, who came as well.
Today was one of my early days at work, so I was able to leave by 4 for an appointment with the allergist and my allergy shot. One more shot and I'll be ready to go up a step in the shots. I'm feeling much better than I was because I'm on a medicine called levocetirizine that is related to Zyrtec. It's been really helping with my allergies.
Tonight is 'iZombie', which I heard was picked up for next season, so yay! That's at 9. I think I'll take a little nap before heading over there to watch. Hope you are enjoying your week, so far!

Having some toast
I came in pretty late last night, so I didn't blog. Wednesday morning I had an endocrinology appointment, then I went to a webcast on data management at UK in the afternoon, and took my friend to an appointment. We watched some syndicated 'Big Bang Theory' and then 'iZombie'. We are convinced that the latter will be cancelled because, well, we both like it, and that often happens to the shows we like. But it's pretty fun.
Today I had a visit from an outreach librarian with the Greater Midwest Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine's office in Chicago. We met for about an hour and a half, and it was very nice. She was down for a conference and when I was up in Chicago we'd made arrangements for her to stop by. After work, I ran over to the pharmacy and then over to my friends' house, where I took one to get something he needed from the store. We visited for quite a while.
Tomorrow I have to be at work by 7:30 am, then I have to iron out an issue for a friend during lunch, and then I'll get off work early for my allergy shot. 'Grimm' is on tomorrow night.
Saturday is a trip to an appointment and a grocery run. Sunday will (hopefully) be the game, assuming Brenda is feeling better. At least I already have the game notes finished.
Okay, I think I'll check the news. YKWIA was telling me about a scientist who is asserting that Mars' condition is the result of a nuclear attack and that we are the Martians' descendants. Um...oh, dear. I should probably go look for myself. If I don't blog any more tonight (and I can tell it's almost time till sleep becomes imperative), have a good night.

It was a good day
Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment after work, instead of class, which ended last week. Then I think I'll come home and work on some stuff here. Thursday I'm not sure exactly what I'll do, other than pay lots of bills, since it's pay day, and then Friday is 'Grimm'. So I'm not currently as crunched this week as normal. So I should have some time to fill the large fish tank (yeah, still haven't done that), straighten up some, and most importantly, I've temporarily misplaced a library book and it's overdue, so I must find it. I know it's in the house, anyway. Bad librarian; no cookie! But when you have as many books as I have (I'd say I have about 3,000 or so), one book lurking amongst other books can be overlooked. Hmmm...I think I may know where it is. Perhaps I should go check now....

I started out this morning feeling pretty rested and well
I came in to wash my hands, and decided to stay in for awhile. The dogs are whining because A is still out there and they like it when their daddy is inside. One of the cats is running back and forth and meowing, begging the other one to play with him. YKWIA apparently came to bed awfully late, so even though it's noon, I haven't tried to wake him. I should be working on the game notes, and I will, but for now I thought I'd come online and do a little writing.
Today I paid my rent, came over here and visited, and I've eaten breakfast and lunch and have taken my meds. I brought the birthday cake a co-worker made for me to share with A and YKWIA. A had a piece for breakfast. :) It's a yummy chocolate cake with chocolate chips in it and chocolate frosting, with those little ball-like sprinkles. It's very chocolate-y. Today's plans are going to the grocery store, watching two episodes of 'Grimm' and maybe 'iZombie', and just hanging out and spending some time together. A is going to watch the Final Four games tonight, especially Kentucky vs. Wisconsin. I'll hopefully be back home by then and working on the notes if I haven't gotten them done by then.
Okay, I think I"ll go sit in a chair and rest my eyes for a bit. I won't go to sleep, but maybe it will help me be less sleepy. I shouldn't feel tired (I wasn't the one using the spade to dig, for example), but I am for some reason. Granted, I didn't go to bed until later than normal last night, but I did sleep well. So I don't get it. (And no, I haven't had any cake yet today to mess with my blood sugar.)

I'm sorry I didn't blog last night
I've run several errands today, eaten dinner, and I really need to do some stuff around here, so I should go. I'll see about writing later, but if not, good night.

YKWIA showed me this earlier, and it looks intriguing
It premieres March 17th.
