Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

I woke up at 7 am, but went back to bed till about 9
YKWIA is waking up. Or at least we talked for awhile about his dreams, and then I left him to start the wake-up process. But he hasn't ventured out of the bedroom yet to make coffee. I can hear him, though, so he must be awake.
Since I did so much yesterday, all I have to do is do the kitchen floor, finish the laundry (after the bread is finished, as it's on top of the washer), and load the dishwasher (after he unloads it).
I'm both excited about and dreading the game today; so much is riding on us in this adventure. Not just saving the world, as we do that fairly often. We're time travelling, and He Who Shall Not Be Named (and I don't mean Voldemort--Google Cthulhu Mythos and that if you'd like) is trying to eliminate a family from the timeline that includes our time-travelling ride home, and every single one of Brenda's characters except the two on this adventure, plus one of mine, and one of my character's children, plus various other children. Literally, they could be wiped from existence, as if they never existed. Well, they wouldn't have. It's looking dire. And even if we survive Norman England, there's the third leg of this campaign that is set in the far future.
Okay, I'm going to go work on the floor and check how the bread is progressing, and YKWIA is up, so I'm going to give him some quiet time for waking up fully. Hope you have a good day.

I was exhausted last night
Okay, I'll sign off here for now. Have a good morning.

So, I'm trying an experiment
Meanwhile, I'm eating some macaroni and cheese and watching the goldfish swim in the aquarium. After PT YKWIA and I went to his house, I fixed him dinner, and we watched 'Doctor Who' (with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper). Rose is growing on me, and so is this Doctor. I've mostly seen the Matt Smith and Tom Baker series, so Eccleston's is quite a bit different. But he still captures the essence of the Doctor. This one was called 'Father's Day' and was all about time paradox. I hope YKWIA doesn't put those creatures in the game. But he's right, the basic quality of a good companion is to have lots of pluck (and the ability to run...a lot).
Tomorrow after work I'm heading to the pharmacy to pick up meds for my friends and later that night there's 'The Shannara Chronicles'. 'Heroes Reborn' comes back from hiatus (how do you go on hiatus with only three episodes of a thirteen-episode arc left?) on Thursday. So we're watching TV again. I hope I can get my Internet turned back on this week, although it's looking iffy. I have to pay my rent (yes, I did that last time, very late, and can't take the chance on doing that again) and my car insurance. Not much is going to be left. :( I hate that I've gotten behind like this. But, hey, if I pay what I can and talk to them, it's bound to get better.
I have to admit, I'm a bit tired. I got up early this morning (I've been trying to do that lately) and tomorrow is no exception. I'm trying to get up at least an hour and a half before I have to be anywhere. Not that it takes me that long to get ready, but it's an opportunity to get other things done that should get done, and usually by the late evening I'm ready to do something quiet and go onto bed. So I'm trying to wring as much out of my time as I can.
Speaking of which, I think I'll do some more reading. I'm at the point where Gilgamesh is trying to find the Sumerian equivalent of Noah to ask him questions about eternal life. These ancient epics--Gilgamesh, Iliad, Odyssey, Beowulf, even the Vestas--have way too much testosterone in them, and apparently men aren't all that different then from now. Give a man a beer, a weapon, and the chance to get laid and the results are pretty much the same. Except that Gilgamesh rebuffed Inanna, which, quite frankly, was dumb. One thing we learn from Greek mythology is that it is very good to live quiet lives beneath the notice of the Gods. Yes, you should be pious, and make sacrifices. However, it never ends well when mortals run afoul of Immortals, and even worse, when they offend them. Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu terribly insulted the Goddess, in a most foul way. I'm surprised the people of Uruk were not destroyed to the last man, woman, and child. Any Goddess who threatens the zombie apocalypse just to convince her father to let her borrow the Bull of Heaven is to be feared. I guess women haven't changed that much, either. The scene is like watching a teenager beg her father for the keys to the car or else she'll (insert threat here). :)
Okay, back to reading I go. I'd like to finish it tonight. I also need to take something so I can put it in my phone's Habitica application and get some experience points. :) Good night!

I think that it is time
To increase the number of wake-up alarms from two to five again. With the dark mornings we've had lately, I've really struggled with waking, and even more importantly, getting up. Today I slept through my normal alarm, which played every ten minutes for two-and-a-quarter hours before I woke up, as well as a one-time alarm. On a normal day, 7:45 is about right, but I meant to be at work by 7:30 this morning.
At least the daylight savings will end Sunday. I'll have at least two or three weeks where the mornings will be lighter (albeit sacrificing the evening light) earlier before it's just dark both when I get up and when I get off work.
As on that note, it is time for bed. I am going to try for earlier than a normal Wednesday, so I should turn in. Also, it is hard to type on a phone, especially by swiping, when you have hiccoughs, anyway. :)
PS I finished Hollow City tonight, and Library of Souls came via UPS today, which was very timely. I'm going to let YKWIA read it first, though, since he finished the second book before I did.

I woke up at an ungodly hour

Moving a little slowly today
Wednesday, February 13, 2013
Got up early
I have an appointment this afternoon, so it will be a shorter workday than usual. Then I'm going to help YKWIA with a reshelving project assuming the weather isn't too bad. We've got rain and a wintry mix coming in today. Guess I should go check the weather and see if they've firmed up whether we'll get rain, ice, snow, or a combination today.
Hope you have a great day!

Just now getting going, really
The day is at least sunny, not the rain from yesterday. I hope to finish the game notes today (I spent so much time on the phone Monday and Tuesday and was so tired from lack of sleep that I didn't really get to them.) I am setting 3 pm as the time to work on them. I should be able to finish them by five. That will give me enough time to really wake up and get the news, etc.

And I thought my three alarms were kind of excessive

It's a little gloomy out there
So now I'm up and have had a little cheese for breakfast, and I'm thinking of all those crazy people out at the stores this morning. Well, a lot probably are heading home by now. I do not get the mad rush for bargains. It's not worth it to me, and I very rarely have much money to spend on the holidays, so I like a bargain as much as the rest of the world. But not that much.
Now that my hair is washed, the only other thing is to work on the game notes today. Today is a day of relaxation for a lot of people, shopping for others. It's a day like most any day for me at the moment, but that's fine. The end is in sight and I'll hopefully be back at work someday soon.
It looks like most of my neighbours have the day off, too. There are a lot of cars in the parking lot for this time of day. I feel a bit like Mrs Kravitz from 'Bewitched'. I'm usually sitting at the computer by the window and am doing a lot of watching the world go by, whether it's squirrels and birds or people coming in and out of the building. I usually know my visitors are here before they knock (well, in truth, most have texted or called ahead; they know it takes me awhile to get to the door).
I have determined that once I am up walking well again there are two things in my house that must be done: vacuuming and dusting. I have dropped so much on the floor, everything from Jell-O and jam to tiny pen needle covers, and so a good carpet cleaning might be in order, too. Since I'm sitting down as I go through much of the apartment, I'm seeing the dust much better. I hate dusting, and it doesn't build up easily in my house, but it has. It's the last thing I always clean over at the gamemaster's house each Sunday. I think it's because I am allergic to dust and dust mites and hate that feeling of getting stuffed up and sneezing. But it must be done.
Well, I checked the news. Let me go see if there's anything else blog-worthy of note on the Internet to put up here. Hope you have a restful Friday after Thanksgiving.

Okay
I went ahead and cleaned up a bit and changed clothes and I feel 80% better. I am going to hang out in the bedroom for a little while, and then do my exercises. Maybe that will wake me up. :-)

- Morning dose of 'Now I'm the One That's Cool'? Check!

I actually got up at 6 this morning
Kroger's customer service desk opens up at 8. I'm going to walk over there and get a bus pass (yay, today is my first payday since adding the new job!) From there I may go ahead and go over to the optician and pick up my glasses. It would be easier to do so now that the buses are running on the half-hour than when I get out of work, and involves some tricky connexions or going downtown for a transfer, but I think I have time before I have to be at work.

Bleh...
I'm sorry to go on about the travails of my body aches. Maybe I'm becoming like an old grandmother. Next I'll be talking about the regularity of my poop, no doubt (my older relatives do this, almost always during dinner. It's very embarrassing.)
Anyway, I'm up but slow moving and sloth-like.

Bleh
I am getting more unbroken sleep now, mainly by sleeping on my back. My shoulder's been bothering me for some time and I usually sleep on my side with my arm under the pillow. I'm thinking that position is aggravating my shoulder, and so the pain is waking me up. It is getting better, so I don't think I need to see anyone about it, but it is annoying.
Oh, the caffeine is starting to perk me up. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but a soda in the morning will do it for me. Yay, diet Sunkist. I have one of those mugs you put in the freezer and then pour the drink in so that it's cold without diluting from ice. It has the secondary effect of freezing bits of the soda around the edges, which I rather like. What can I say, I am a fairly simple person. Small things amuse me.
What I really should do with my extra time is take out the trash and put the dishes in the dishwasher. Maybe I will. I don't have to be anywhere until 9 am. But right now I'm just concentrating on waking up, and it's happening much more slowly than usual. I usually can get up from sleep or a nap and be ready to go just like that, a useful skill in my shuttling people around. I used to get up at 3 am and pick up YKWIA from the scary studio art building at UK years ago (ghosts, stairwells that collapsed, homeless people settling in, and oh, yeah, it's a 19th century tobacco warehouse with lots of allergens plus art supplies that can be toxic, what fun, although I hear they're finally doing something about the Reynolds building), and of course there was that spate when A was working at 3 am.
Okay, I think I'm going to spend 10 minutes in the comfy chair getting a back massage and then head to the shower. Have a great day.
