Tired and achy

It's been a productive day, but the last hour or so all I could think about was putting my feet up, stretching out, and taking a nap. It doesn't help that it didn't get over 48 degrees all day and it's grey and rainy outside. My back has given me some trouble today, although in truth not near as much as I thought it would. I've mostly sat--we had our benefits fair today and our retirement representative gave out little paedometres, and I've walked about 1,706 steps today--a far cry from the 10,000 you're supposed to.

So now I'm home, and with all that work, they obviously did not come today. Oh, well. Anyway, I'm going to take a little nap and try to keep it to an hour or less, so I can call my friend and see if he wants to watch 'The Tomorrow People' and 'American Horror Story: Coven' over at his place tonight. I should be getting The Blues Brothers from Netflix tomorrow--but we're obviously not going to be watching it at my house this weekend. :(

Time for bed

I ache all over, especially my neck and lower back, but I accomplished much (it's amazing what a little incentive can do). The place is a mess, but the objective was met. I did a little cruising through Google News and now I'm quite ready for bed. Good night.

Either

I have overdone it a bit today or sat too long at the computer, or a combination of both, as I feel stiff and sore all over, especially in my foot/ankle, knees, and back/neck. So I think it's time to take some Tylenol. I really find that Advil/ibuprofen works better for those sorts of aches, but apparently NSAIDs inhibit bone growth, so it's Tylenol/acetaminophen for awhile. I think I'll stay up for just a little while longer, give it a chance to kick in, and then head on to bed. PT comes very early tomorrow.

I feel rather blah tonight

I came home with quite a bit of energy--despite a long week--having not taken the bus home but rather getting a ride, and straightened up the living room while talking to a friend on the phone for some time. But my ankle is a little swollen and hurts where I turned it yesterday, and I'm aching a bit all over, which I expect is from the oncoming rain and low pressure with a drop of temperatures expected this weekend. Any time a cool front comes in I feel achy about 24-48 hours out. If I'm up and moving I'm usually okay. But sitting here, well, not so much.

So even though it's barely 10 pm I'm closing up shop for the night. I recorded both 'Grimm' and 'Supernatural' (the latter guest-starring Felicia Day) and wanted to watch one tonight, but that is not to be. And I'm putting off the game notes, I know, which means I'll be doing them tomorrow, probably after I get back from a friend's house. I'm taking him some creamer and a glue stick and then spending some time over there. But I'm just not up to it tonight.

So, good night. I'm going to take my medicine and head to bed. My abdomen's itching and I'm a little splotchy--I hope that doesn't mean I'm developing a sensitivity to one of the insulins; I did that with Apidra when I first went on it, and that's why I'm on Novolog instead. It could just be dry skin. My hands were terribly dry and I put some of that orange ginger lotion on them, which has a very comforting smell and is very soothing. I'd put another kind on earlier and I guess that didn't do it. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow--it usually passes once the front gets here. The goal is to get up and do yoga in the morning, which will help as well.

After the video game

I sneaked into the bedroom and took a nap. Now it's dark. I think this day is a dud for cleaning, but had I had already decided it would be best to clean the bedroom during the laundry, which was set for tomorrow anyway. That way the clothes that are piled in a couple of areas can be gathered up and out of the way, then go into the empty drawers I have ready for them once they're clean.

Apparently I didn't get hyped up on enough caffeine to clean house like last weekend. I'm also achy, especially in my back. I don't know if it's the weather (which was cold, but is improving) or the fact that I totally stopped my period for 24 hours and it came back (welcome to perimenopause, perhaps?)

So tonight I think it's going to be TV, and then tomorrow I can really get going, hopefully. Of course, that means I'll probably not sleep much right before work on Monday.

I didn't feel great today

My head, foot, ankle, and knee were all hurting. I felt worn out by the time I got home, too tired to even cook any macaroni and cheese, which I'm now just having. Now both legs are hurting because my left took up the slack for the right. I know it beats the alternative, but getting older sometimes just sucks.

This morning I had some books due at the library and took them in. I came out with guides to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint 2010, as well as a collection of Unshelved comic strips. I brought to the attention of the woman at the desk that despite being a 14-day book, the latter was giving me a 28-day due date, but she wasn't quite sure how to fix it. But I shouldn't need it that long, since comics are a quick read and of course, I've read a lot of these since they're on this blog.

We start training for the upgrade to Office 2010 next week. Since I was able to download the professional version for home use for $9.95, I can get a head start with the program and the books, or at least hope to.

The other major thing today is that my cell phone is dying. I'm not sure whether it's just the battery, or the software, or both. The phone was turning itself off or half off, but then the software was glitching too. I couldn't get it to go to the menu area, for example. In checking the battery connexion, I reset my phone, losing all the contacts and not having access to the My Faves feature. I have those backed up, so I should be able to restore them. But it's become totally unreliable. There's a button on it that doesn't work at all and hasn't for some time. My last phone lasted me 10 years and is still okay, only needing the battery replaced after about 9 years; I just wanted to upgrade. This one has lasted two years.

I've looked into getting another phone and I found one I thought looked like a possibility. I'm going to go by the store on Thursday and get a look at it. It's a small, low-end Android smart phone that's pretty inexpensive (about as much as my little flip-phone retailed for). It has the music and radio features I use a lot, plus camera, video, and GPS. It can get on the Internet and you can get applications from the Android store (although some aren't optimised for its smaller screen). The two drawbacks from the reviews I've seen seem to be battery life (but I charge my phone as it is every night anyway, and that's been necessary as long as I've had it) and the small Swype keyboard, but I have small fingers, so it may not be a problem for me. It's called a Huawei Comet. I'm not familiar with that manufacturer; I've always had Nokias. So if you know a lot about it and have some input, let me know, preferably before Thursday. :) Some reviews were absolutely great and others were terrible, but I've found that the case of most reviews, and it got an overall positive rating. It will mean adding a data plan to my T-mobile bill, but I checked, and they're not unreasonable.

I got a package from UPS today at the apartment, but the office was closed when I came home so I don't know what it is. It could (finally) be my CPAP masque (my doctor finally faxed the prescription to the medical supply company *three weeks* after requested, but hey, it got there. Only thing is, the masque is supposed to go to my work address, so it could be something entirely different. So I'm definitely picking that up in the morning.

When I came home tonight a (fortunately empty) fountain that sits on my bathroom sink was in the middle of the bathroom floor, with rocks and a candle there, too. Also fortunately, the mirror on the fountain did not crack. The only thing I can think of is that I was having some trouble with my sink draining. I meant to call about it this morning, but got distracted by the phone issue. If the people upstairs were also having trouble, maintenance might have checked mine. It was draining smoothly when I got home. But if he knocked off the fountain, you would think he'd have picked it up. I guess he could have brushed it partway off and it fell later. Otherwise, I vote for gremlins. At least my sink is better.

Okay, I think I'll go now and check my e-mail. Have a good night.

Not feeling the best

I went to bed early last night because my back and stomach were bothering me. The stomach's okay this morning, but my back issue has spread from the lower back all the way up to the neck and I'm aching all over. The weather is unseasonably warm, with rain in the forecast, so that may be something, I don't know. But I'm sorry I didn't get around to blogging last night. I'm going to a friend's house tonight so may get in late, so we'll see.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Bleh...

I'm up, it's 8 am, and I feel awful. I almost got up at 6:30, but I'd slept very fitfully, my feet moving the whole time in a bid to get comfortable, and holding my body a certain way to keep from bleeding on the mattress like I did the night before. I'm very stiff and my neck hurts. Even my fingers hurt. A hot shower might help. Yoga would be good, but it doesn't always mix well with menstruation. My feet do feel better, though. I can walk with just the normal amount of pain this morning.

I'm sorry to go on about the travails of my body aches. Maybe I'm becoming like an old grandmother. Next I'll be talking about the regularity of my poop, no doubt (my older relatives do this, almost always during dinner. It's very embarrassing.)

Anyway, I'm up but slow moving and sloth-like.

Dragonflies, thistledown, hummingbirds, and bats

One of the nice things about having to schlepp around without a car is that I notice more along the roadside to do with nature. Yesterday there was the green hummingbird buzzing about a crabapple looking for nectar before deciding that it was going to come up empty (the trees having bloomed in the spring and now are forming fruit). Today there was a blue dragonfly on the way down to the bus stop, plus thistledown everywhere, both blowing from across the road and on the ground. When I was a child, we pretended these were fairies, and if you caught one before it hit the ground you could make a wish and release it to let it fly. Tonight on my way home from the gas station I saw a bat flying purposefully across the sky above the car lot. If I'd been in a car, I'd have missed all these things.

There's a downside, though. My knees and ankles are unused to doing the amount of walking that I'm doing, and so at the end of the night I'm hobbling about, especially after standing at work. But that's okay; it'll get better with some conditioning.

Speaking of being uncomfortable, I've been nauseous a good bit of the day. I thought I was getting motion sick from the bus the last few days; today I felt that way before riding, and I realised that I was having issues on an empty stomach. About every 3-5 years I have a flareup of gastritis where I come close to getting an ulcer. That may be happening here. I'll discuss it with my doctor when I see him at the beginning of September. So far it's been pretty mild. But there have been times I've had to go on medication to get it under control. This has been a chronic issue since I was in my early 20s. Still, it's annoying. I'm trying to eat a little fairly often to keep something on my stomach and avoid greasy foods. Fortunately lunch at work was penne pasta with marinara sauce and a vegetable medley, so that wasn't too bad.

Well, that's all for now. Hope your week went well. Good night.
