I was bound to crash

Today after work I put some Shell gas, the type with cleaning additives, in the car like the owner's manual had suggested. Time will tell if that's enough to make the check engine light go off. I did check my gas cap and it's tight, at least. Then I went to the library and picked up a couple of books for myself and one for YKWIA, and then I came home and crashed for about 2 hours, listening to some Loreena McKennitt but then the alarm went off and I turned over and just slept. YKWIA called about a half an hour ago, so now I'm up, which is good, except for the dreaded bagel and Nutella incident.

After being crazy busy the last few days I wanted to have a quiet evening, and it's been one so far. I think now I'm going to listen to some more music and read. My to-read pile is getting bigger.

Well, I'm up, but I'm strangely unwilling to do much of anything

I slept for nearly three hours. I'm not exhausted, I'm not particularly tired. But I'm also not particularly motivated. I should do dishes, straighten up, and get my laundry out of the bedroom floor, but really, I just feel like maybe reading for awhile. Is that awful? I want to do something relaxing. I'll try the reading, maybe listen to some music, and then if I don't manage to finish things today, there's always tomorrow morning. Yeah, right.

Actually, I can think of one motivator. Tomorrow night we usually watch 'The Originals' and 'Supernatural' at YKWIA's house, but I think A is going to be watching a UK basketball game on the main screen, which means we could come over and watch on my TV rather than watch on a small TV in the bedroom. That would mean getting the place straightened up. Hmmm....

I just woke up on the loveseat

all cramped and sore, after falling asleep two hours ago while listening to a happy Celtic channel of Loreena McKennitt and similar music on Pandora. The windows are open and I think it's sprinkled a bit outside. I have my fan and CPAP out here in the living room. That means I didn't watch 'The Originals' or 'Supernatural', but I did record them. Now I'm going to turn over the TV to the local news because I am curious as to why the police had a road I was on earlier shut down (and no, it wasn't the situation with the person hit on New Circle Road--this was another part of town). There were something like eight cruisers across the road, two on the way, and about twelve police officers in the yard of a house when I had to turn around.

No word on the news about what was happening. Oh, well. I guess it didn't make the cut. Maybe it will be on the Herald-Leader website tomorrow. Time to move the fan and CPAP back into the other room and close the windows. I did finally figure out the settings on the TV to make it widescreen. Good night.

Some improvement, anyway

Today I was free after work. I came home, took out the trash (although not the recyclables, but still, every bit helps). I watched three episodes of 'The Big Bang Theory'. I spent some time on the computer. About seven I did drop off to sleep, and I woke up at 10:45. Then a friend called and we spoke briefly. So I didn't go straight to sleep on getting home, had a little fun, but it would be good to work things up to having a whole evening by myself without falling asleep.

This week seems to be going by somewhat slowly compared the last few. I was really pleased this afternoon when I took my blood sugar for lunch and it was not only merely 84, but also I didn't feel low symptoms or anything. I think my body is starting to adjust to lower, more normal, glucose levels--yay!

I think I'm going to try to read a bit before going back to bed. I have the last of the Sookie Stackhouse books on a shelf by my bed, and I noticed Amazon has a preorder of a 'what happened to everyone after the series ended' book coming out soon. Ingenious marketing, by the way. JK Rowling just did hers in an epilogue of the last book. Charlaine Harris did an alphabetical listing of characters from her series with what happened to whom that fills over 200 pages. If I don't want to get into any spoilers, I should read last novel soon, so I'm going to try to start tonight.

You know its been raining for awhile

When you're taking your groceries to the car and you suddenly realise you're getting wet, and then realise that you hadn't noticed before because after all it's been raining for days and days and you've just become used to it. Is this how people in Britain and the Pacific Northwest are? We don't normally get rain day in and day out for a week or two.

I got my hair trimmed, and it looks nice. I know there is no such thing as 'good' karma really, but it was nice that I let a woman and her little boy cross in front of me and the perfect parking spot opened up seemingly as a reward. Dee Dee did a great job with my hair. Then I went to the grocery and bought some (mostly) healthy food, like hummous, fruit (they had strawberries on sale for $2.99 for 2 lbs), yoghurt, cottage cheese, milk to go with my cereal, eggs, etc. I did get my chocolate-dipped coconut fruit bars, though. I cleaned out the refrigerator and put the new stuff in as well.

I have to admit, all of this rain is making me feel really sleepy. I think I'm going to stop talking about going to the Y because it seems the more I talk about it, the less likely I am tp go. Today I was going to, but it turns out I'm starting my period, and while they usually say exercise is good for that, it's been my experience that if I do any major exercise on the first day of mine, I go into horrible cramping. So no gym today, and no pool. :( Tomorrow's out as well, due to the game, but I'll try to go next week. I'm not going to write about it any more until I actually go, though. I called Brenda just now to see what sort of snacks she's up for at the game tomorrow), and I'm really looking forward to the game. I'm going to call and see if there's anything special I need to pick up on the way tomorrow. Although I still have a lot I want to accomplish this weekend, but I'm going to take a nap, although I'm going to try not to sleep the evening away. Hope you're having a good weekend as well.

It is apparently the afternoon of napping

I was doing my laundry over at my friends' house and everyone in the house except me--humans, dogs, and cats, fell asleep, One had been up since four something in the morning and was falling asleep at the computer before he laid down. Another fell asleep to 'The Flying Nun', which was the only thing he could find on television he could handle. The dogs and cats were ranged around him. I took a picture of everyone but the one in bed, which I'll show them later. But my laundry finished, so I folded it and got my stuff and crept out of there. A barely stirred. :)

I feel like a nap, too. I watered the outside plants as soon as I got home because they were looking peaked in the heat, but the sun is beating down through the windows and it's a pleasant afternoon. The plan is to get up later, do game notes and hand-wash laundry, as well as dishes and a bit of straightening, before calling it a night.

I did send the disc of 'Grimm' I have out from Netflix back today so I could get another. I checked and the first season is on Amazon Prime, which I have, without paying anything additional. So I'm going to go that route. I couldn't get Silver Linings Playbook at the library, so I added it to my disc queue to watch in a little while. I have a couple of other discs first, but they should be quick to watch, I think. A said it was fine to wait a bit. Okay, now for my nap. :)

So sleepy after a long day

I:
  1. Got up super early (5 am) to launder a comforter with dog vomit on it and it didn't actually come out, which was disappointing.
  2. Blogged.
  3. Worked.
  4. Had PT. It was an interesting session, as two more exercises were added.
  5. Looked up things for YKWIA.
  6. Fell asleep rather than doing my book review.
  7. Woke up and got rather cross with myself for doing so.
  8. Blogged.
  9. Will be going back to sleep and maybe getting up early tomorrow. There's really no point of trying to do anything right now.
Good night. Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day, if you celebrate it.

Took a bit of a nap, but now I'm up trying to create order from chaos

I got a DVD sleeve that holds 48 CDs/DVDs and populated it with the M*A*S*H discs (they come in cardboard sleeves that are abrasive over time; it's an interesting concept but bad for the media) and my National Graphic DVDs (a collection of all magazines digitally from 1888-2008). The next step is going around picking up stuff. I've let things go to an absolute mess.

Took the car

over to Mitch's Auto Repair today after work and got a fuse put in for the cigarette lighter so I can use it as a charger and a resistor put in so that the heat control works on something other than high. Kenny, the owner, also showed me that there is a power point (secondary charger) directly under the cigarette lighter that I didn't know existed. We also discussed anything he would do to the car given its age and inactivity for most of its life, as well as any maintenance at its current mileage, and it turns out I'd done everything he'd suggested. (Mainly flushing the fluids and changing the oil). Apparently transmissions are also a problem with 2001 Tauruses (that's what got my last car), so keeping things flushed every 30,000 miles or so is very good. The repair took about 30 minutes and was cheaper than I expected, so I'm happy. There is a bit of a squeak in the heater blower, but I can live with that. I'm assuming that may be a belt of some sort. One of my co-workers, when told what I was planning on having fixed, was so proud that I knew it was the fuse and resistor. I did admit I Googled it. I may not know much about cars, but I do know about searching and Google, and that helps me every day and gives me quite a skill set these days.

I got my books from Amazon today (along with the DVD set) and started the second one, Charmed to Death, while I waited for the car repair. Now I'm home for a quiet evening. I think I may take a nap and then work on the game notes some. Tomorrow I'm going to stop by T-Mobile and try to upgrade my phone and then go over to help a friend with an issue he's having. Hope you had a good week, and thank goodness it's Friday!

Still having issues with spotty DNS errors

Odd.

But I will not let that put a damper on my day. Today I went to the optometrist and got a pair of bifocal contact lenses and ordered my others. Apparently I'm a tad bit more nearsighted, but my actual contact prescription didn't change that much. I went by the optician connected with the practice, Pal Optical, and bought some more cleaner for glasses to keep in my purse, since after several years, I've finally gone through the spray I had before, mainly because I use it to clean my tablet and phone screens with a microfibre cloth. :)

After that I grabbed some breakfast and did a little shopping. I got back with some nice work pants, some blouses, socks, bedding, and a couple of purses from Gabriel Brothers, but no jeans, which was actually the point of going out. That's the only problem with that store; because they are a reseller, the prices are low for good quality things, but the selection is spotty. I'll try somewhere else for the jeans. But the other things I can have for work and the bedding is something I've needed for awhile. The purses I really didn't have to have--but I like purses like some women like shoes, so what can I say? They were very nice and very low in price.

I came home, cleared some stuff off my phone, which was labouring without memory, texted Brandon a bit, and then took a nap. Now I've eaten and it's time to gather up some of the stuff that's been piling up in my house and take it to the recycling and trash receptacles. Then I'm going over and taking a friend to the grocery and visiting. So I'm glad I took that nap. :)

Okay, I'd better get going. Hope you're having a good weekend.

I had a nice mid-afternoon nap

as the sun, reflecting on the snow, poured through the windows. Now it's passing away. I suppose this will be my last such nap in awhile, unless I manage it on a rare Saturday or holiday. The rest of the week is always so busy, between work and the game (although I'm not quite up to cleaning my friends' house yet, so Sundays aren't so full at the moment. A told me today he longed for the day when I could put a mop in my hand again. They've had to clean their own house for awhile now, which I think helped them appreciate me a little more.)

I just ate the last of the kugel from last week (hopefully it's still good; it tasted delicious anyway, and there's lots of oil to help keep it from turning).

Now to determine what to do for the rest of the evening. There's still the reading option. I've already looked at the news. There's one more story I'll post before I head back to the bedroom to read.

I went back to sleep for an hour and a half and it did wonders

And no more nightmares, thankfully. I was able to actually get fairly comfortable, and I could have stayed in bed longer, but it was better to go ahead and come out here, as I want a chance of sleeping tonight. So I've gotten up, eaten my salad, packet of string cheese, and orange juice, and I've done my exercises. My thigh does not like me at the moment, but I think it's getting with the programme.

I may not be doing Thanksgiving, and I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do before Chanukah/Yule/Christmas (the first of which is just a couple of weeks away!), but I did get a Christmas cactus to bring out a little cheer in the house. Granted it's one more plant to try to keep alive right now (I've lost my rosemary, but they're touchy anyway), but it seemed better to spend $3.99 on that than $20 on a small Yule tree I can't really decorate right now. Besides, the Norfolk Virginia pines always have glitter sprayed on them these days, and I kill them every year. I blame the glitter. The sun is starting to kiss the plants in the double window right now, and the cactus' red buds are quite bright.

I'm glad I had Jill, my officemate, bring me my fan from my desk. It plugs into the computer and blows a fair amount of air around. The air conditioning is off (I just couldn't get used to running it) and it's 64 degrees outside, and beautiful. The fan takes some of the stuffiness out of things. I wish I could open the windows, but I'm just not physically able to do that right now, and even if someone opened them for me, I can't close them either, and I'd have to by nightfall.

Okay, someone is coming over in about an hour. I think I'll try to read a bit, since the light's so nice in the living area right now.

Oh, by the way

I got a DVD from Netflix today. It's Desk Set, with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. It is considered one of 'The' movies to watch if you're a librarian, even though it doesn't technically take place in a library, I don't think. Anyway, I'll let you know what I think of it. :)

I got a call earlier that I didn't hear, and on the voicemail my friend said, 'you're probably napping, call me when you wake up'. I am known as a sleeper to all my friends, who rib me for it. Another friend was so happy that he and another weren't the only ones to tease me. But I haven't napped tonight, so I'm doing pretty well. Maybe I can stay up till 11. :)
