I hope the workers are served as well as the students

I worked my way through college largely through the University of Kentucky Food Service department, from 1986 till about 1997, working in the Student Center Wildcat Grill, Blazer Hall's cafeteria and store, over at the Commons cafeteria, and one summer helping make meal cards when they still had those non-integrated IDs. So I read this with some interest:

University of Kentucky considers privatizing dining services

The University of Kentucky is studying the possibility of outsourcing its dining services, a move that could affect 243 full-time and part-time employees and 501 student workers.

UK has hired a consultant for $55,524 to explore the issue and prepare a request-for-proposal document that will go out early next year. However, UK officials have said the university's dining department could be one of the bidders for the project.

The University laid off about 1% of its workforce in June. I'd hate to see these folks lose their jobs, too.
