One more reason never to go to Florida
Florida is the only Southern state I have not visited. Now I understand why I never should. Thank you, YKWIA, for this video of the deadly Manchineel tree. We have found the Dark Young of the Woods.
For what it's worth, the Manchineel tends to grow in the parts of Florida with the least visitors - - mangrove swamps along the SW coast and into the Keys, the drainage basin of the Everglades. I'm a Florida native, lived there 17 years, and have never seen one. You're far more likely to encounter one on a cruise to the Caribbean or Mexico.
A plant much closer to your home in KY is the Giant Hogweed. It's possible that KY has none, but it is spreading slowly through the US.
