Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

Smacks forehead with hand
So there was one annoying detail about this morning I was having issues with. When I tried to go online and my service was suspended, a message came up saying as much. Unfortunately, even once the service came back up, every time I went to my start page, it would do that, even at times other than when my browser started up. Now, if this were an esoteric site of some sort, that wouldn't be a problem, really. But it was Google. I could get to iGoogle. I could search from my Google search bar. It wasn't the functionality I was necessarily missing. But I couldn't get the actual Google website to come up without that stupid message coming up, and it was just annoying. I tried restarting the computer. I tried restarting the modem. What I didn't think to do was clear the cache. Not at all. My brain was dead. It was an easy fix, but I actually had to call Insight and ask them about it because I didn't think of it on my own. For all that I use Firefox I'm not quite as familiar with it as Internet Explorer, although I prefer Firefox. And it's even easier to clear the cache in Firefox than IE, in my opinion, and yet, I didn't know how to do it. Thank you, Insight tech, for answering a relatively stupid question. I mean, I wouldn't consider it a stupid question if a patron asked me, because I don't expect them to be tech savvy. I do expect it of myself, though. Oh, well, at least I learned from it and will know next time. Gee.

Sometimes you can be so intent on something
that the obvious escapes you. Blogger has a new feature that allows you to share posts through a variety of ways: via e-mail, blogging about it, sharing it on Facebook or Google Buzz, or tweeting about it. This buttons are now located at the end of each post.
To get them there, however, I had to reset my blog template and clear my cache, but it didn't appear to work. So I reset the widgets as well, as per the Real Blogger Status blog's directions (a very useful blog, by the way). No dice. Then I went back to the Page Elements settings and found that I'd unchecked the box next to that particular function, since it hadn't been showing up anyway. :| So I checked it again, and everything works. I was half afraid I'd wipe out the whole blog just to get a few buttons on there. Fortunately I backed up the template and the content of the blog is backed up itself at least through May. I probably need to back up June. But all eight-almost-nine years' worth is stored on my computer and on an external hard drive, too.
Anyway, enjoy, and share!

How strange
I can get to Blogger, but not YouTube, Google, Gmail, or my home page at Insight. I could understand if I couldn't get through to the first four only, since they're all owned by Google. But no, that doesn't seem to be it. I think Insight's having some issues, or at least my cable modem is. Connexion was spotty last night, although my phone was working fine (I have Vonage running off a router that plugs into the cable modem).
Huh.
I also can't view my blog on Blog*Spot. Maybe it's time to do a little tinkering, exiting out and restarting.

Yay, I'm back online
I've had a couple of days offline because my cable modem decided to stop speaking to the Vonage router. Resetting the modem didn't help. I finally had some time to call Insight and they suggested unplugging the router and the ethernet cable between the two, then plugging the router back in and letting it cycle. So yay, I have cable again, and also my phone, which piggybacks onto it.
So what has been happening, you ask? Well, you probably didn't but I'm going to tell you. My days of free time for painting ended with most of it done, so I'm back at work, both jobs. But tomorrow afternoon I need to paint one room for the second time and another for the fifth, if you include the primer. Burgundy is very hard to get coverage for on a light wall. Trim will be finished on Saturday and Sunday. Then there's books to be put up on the new shelves, and then begins my doom.
The strange thing of the week was that my door panel on the inside of the driver's door in my car fell off the other day. I've gotten relatively adept at getting it back on long enough to shut the door, but at first I really worked up a sweat in the heat and said a few choice words in the parking lot of the gas station. I'd picked up my paycheque and needed to put it in the bank and grab my shirt from home within 20 minutes, and it was not fun trying to put a door back together. But I managed and even made it to work within about three minutes of time. Fortunately I priced the fix and it looks like it'll run about $45, not too bad. Now it's just a matter of when I can get it done.
What else? They're increasing the pressure in my CPAP machine. Tomorrow I need to take it into the medical equipment place for them to reprogram it. I see the doctor next week.
I gave blood today at a blood drive at the hospital. I got a $10 fuel card for my efforts plus a nifty etched glass for completing my third gallon. That sounds really impressive, but that's over 23 years. I average once or twice a year, whereas you can donate much more often than that. I have O+ blood, so I constantly get pleas when the supply gets low.
One last thing, a video I haven't included here before, but really the song could be the anthem of my life, partly due to my issues with my parents, partly for my need to grow beyond the little girl I was. I can't embed it (the musician provided it to YouTube on the condition they disable that feature), but here it is.
