Is the Apocalypse nigh?

Google apps is out of beta (yes, really)

Amazingly, Google has finally dropped the 'beta' designation from several of their applications, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, and Talk. Gmail, for example, has been in beta for five years.

I think the idea is to get more businesses to adopt their suite of for-pay applications, but the removal of 'beta' is true for those of us who enjoy the use of the free versions as well. Most businesses don't want something still in early 'almost-ready-for-primetime' kind of testing that 'beta' designates.

So I went onto Gmail to check for a message from someone

and wound up spending 1 1/2 hours going through the whole thing, about 2000 e-mails in my inbox, a bunch of spam, a lot of unread mail that needed to be categorised, etc.

But I now have a total of 3 e-mails in my inbox, and everything has been either deleted or marked read (even if I didn't actually read it, I can search for things to read later).

Whew!

How strange

I can get to Blogger, but not YouTube, Google, Gmail, or my home page at Insight. I could understand if I couldn't get through to the first four only, since they're all owned by Google. But no, that doesn't seem to be it. I think Insight's having some issues, or at least my cable modem is. Connexion was spotty last night, although my phone was working fine (I have Vonage running off a router that plugs into the cable modem).

Huh.

I also can't view my blog on Blog*Spot. Maybe it's time to do a little tinkering, exiting out and restarting.
