Maybe the first step in finding a treatment for progeria

Clue to kids' early aging disease found
How a drug derived from bacteria found on Easter Island in the 1960s could give hope to kids who often die of 'old age' by the time they reach high school. The research holds hope for other diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, which also come about through the build-up of proteins in the cells. They're not up to human subjects yet, and there are hurdles to overcome, especially for such a rare disorder that is devastating but not fiscally rewarding to drug companies to find treatments for, but it's a glimmer of hope.
