HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS EXPECTED ON WEDNESDAY...We've already had a child die here after being left in a car.
AN UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BUILD INTO THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY. UNDER MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL WARM INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S. THESE TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH DEWPOINTS IN THE UPPER 60S TO AROUND 70 WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDICES BETWEEN 97 AND 104 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST HEAT INDICES WILL LIKELY OCCUR BETWEEN 1PM AND 7PM LOCAL TIME AND WILL LIKELY BE LOCATED IN AREAS WEST OF INTERSTATE 65.
PERSONS ENGAGING IN STRENUOUS OUTSIDE ACTIVITY COULD EXPERIENCE HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER... WEAR LIGHT-WEIGHT AND LIGHT-COLORED CLOTHING. STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM IF POSSIBLE... STAY OUT OF THE SUN... AND CHECK ON RELATIVES... NEIGHBORS AND PETS.
I remember when I was in Kansas there was a summer in the 80s where we had over 60 days of over 100 degree weather. But the humidity isn't as high there as in Kentucky. Of course, I'm sure it's more miserable down South. Thank goodness for air conditioning.
