A few weeks ago, training a new co-worker:
Here is the way to see our department schedule. Oh, the Fourth of July is on a Thursday. Friday would have been a good day to take off.
Looks again. Oh, I am off the 5th; I just didn't remember putting in for it.
You've got to love my (lack of) memory sometimes. But at least I remembered not to go to work today. 🙂
I actually slept in till 7:30 (my alarm was set for 8, but it's hard to wake up before or after 7:30), although yesterday I was so tired, I slept on and off till nearly 3 PM. I made coffee, woke up my roommate, got dressed, put on a new glucose sensor, and now I'm sitting in near-darkness, because it's so cloudy, fighting the urge to go back to sleep. After all, it's so dark, and I'm also getting ready to figure out exactly what I want to do today--I know it involves getting a haircut. But I like to-do lists to give a little structure. Caffeinating is first on the list. 🙂
Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

Blah
- For dinner tonight:
- 2 California soy turkey patties from Morningstar Farms that has been in my freezer for I don’t know how long, and have thawed and refrozen at some point when my electricity went out
- A can of spinach from the back of the cabinet
- A stale piece of bread with honey on it
- Four Jello snack pack sugar-free strawberry gelatin packs from October 2013, when I had a colonoscopy
I went over to my friends’ house and helped with the Sunday chores and watched an episode of ‘Ugly Betty’. I wasn’t going to stay too long because I wanted to get back before it started snowing in earnest, but I wound up coming home about 2:30 after fixing him up some food to heat up later and I just went to bed for three hours, until I got hungry and came out and made dinner.
I am off tomorrow and want to get certain things done, although plans are subject to change. Among other things, I want to:
- Work on the house.
- Water the plants.
- Put water in the fish tanks.
- Do my taxes.
- Go to the library.
Okay, I think I’m going to go back to bed now. I’m not sick, but I’m achy and blah and just have no energy. In fact, I’m writing this a little before 6:30 and I’ll go ahead and schedule the post later when I get my phone out here and get online with the hotspot. Right now, I just want to crawl into bed.

Phase One of Operation Day Off completed
- Well, I got:
- To sleep in one hour
- All my books that were due at the library dropped off
- A money order for my rent from bank (still there as they opened)
- My new driver's licence (with a fairly decent picture)
- Food from Subway (and I combined two cards, so I have enough points to get a foot-long next time)
- A book from the Central Library on Atlantis
- To talk with a friend on the phone for a few minutes
- A cryptic voicemail that cut in and out that may have been from another friend at work; I don't know his number there
- A bus out to Fayette Mall
- To see The Hunger Games for free (I had a pass left over from our employee appreciation gift)
- A slice of spinach-tomato pizza from Sbarro's at the mall
- A bus back
- Several chapters read of Catching Fire both on the bus and at the mall; I'm about 3/4 of the way through
- A book at the Eagle Creek library branch, a mystery set in ancient Aegypt called Nefertiti by Nick Drake
- My rent paid just as the office was about to close (one woman had jacket in hand) and a receipt
Phase Two includes laundry and housework, but I think I'll take about an hour and rest first. My eyes are burning now that I've taken my contacts out (allergies, most likely) and my feet are hurting (time to take my meds). I've got the windows open and the sun is streaming in nicely, and it's just now about the time I get home from work. Hope your day was excellent as well. :)

So weird to be off today
I took today off from the store to celebrate a friend's birthday, the first Saturday off I've had in, well, maybe a year. I got the game notes finished early this morning and then headed out to the restaurant by bus, but the other people got delayed and there I was, knowing that they weren't going to be there for an hour and very, very hungry. Since it was a buffet, I decided to go on in anyway, and it was wonderful. I eventually met up with my friends. I'd eaten very slowly and was absolutely stuffed. I usually eat until I'm comfortably full, but this time I was very uncomfortable and really could not eat another bite. We decided to come home by cab since the buses were being somewhat tricky, and then I think we all crashed at our respective homes in the bliss of Indian food goodness.
Now I'm up and I've caught up on the news and am considering doing some laundry, since I never managed to last night, and I'll probably get home too late tomorrow and be too tired to do so tomorrow (I have to get the early bus, so I'll be up at 5 am, at the latest.)
I have to admit, it was bliss to have a Saturday off. Granted, I slept a good deal of it, but this is how other people relax and renew. Sundays are normally my only day off, and I get things ready for the game by cleaning for 5-6 hours, so it's kind of like working a shift, although granted I get to spend the next 5-6 hours gaming. If I could just count on the data entry job being full-time and permanent, I would quit at the store just to have my Saturdays. But I can't, so for now, I'll keep schlepping along.
