I told you I'd post this

Here's the little betta in his tank. He's been exploring. It's only three gallons, but it's much bigger than the small cup he came in. I haven't decided if I'll name him (the goldfish aren't named, for example).

Today I slept in and then took a friend to do the weekly Kroger run for groceries. Then I watched some 'H2O: Just Add Water' (we're in the second season, now). It was raining when I came home. Now I've eaten, and I also transferred photos from my phone (always a hassle, as Samsung's Kies software rarely works without doing lots of updates each time I go to use it.) Now I need to work on the notes from the game last week.

PS I got my passport card today. This is an ID card that can be used for travel to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. A regular passport (which I received yesterday) is necessary for other travel abroad. All that's left is my identification papers that went with my application. I'm really pleased by the turnaround the State Department had for issuing the various forms of identification. It took 14 business days, 19 total days to receive the passport, and one more day to get the card. Not bad!

I got my passport!

That was great turnaround time--I applied on the 21st of June and got it on July 12th. Not bad, especially with the holiday. Granted, I'm not going anywhere on a specific trip for which I was waiting for it; if I had no doubt there would have been a delay. At least, by applying when I did, there won't be a problem should I decide to take a road trip to Canada or finally make it to Great Britain. :) I never had a passport, even though I was a military brat, because we never left the country. So this is fun for me. Soon I should get the passport card (which you can use instead of the passport for Canada and Mexico) and the identifying papers (you have to submit originals, not copies, or rather certified copies, such as the birth certificate you get from the Vital Statistics office or in my case a court-ordered name change. :)

Today has been an excellent day. I'm off just a bit early. The plan is to go exercise a little closer to six, when open swim starts. In the meantime I wanted to check my mail (yipee!), get the support hose off (I've had as much as I can stand for one day, but it has helped), relax for just a bit, and check on the little fish. Hope your Friday was as pleasant.

PS Just got a phone call with a request for a ride from work. Support hose will stay on just a bit more. Oh, well. :)

What a day

It did take two tries, but I did get my passport application in. I should get it in about six weeks. I even took a fairly nice photo that YKWIA described as 'perky'. Afterwards I went by the pharmacy and got medicine for three people, then went and got some food from Texas Roadhouse and ate with YKWIA and A. YKWIA and I watched some YouTube videos that were wonderful as they debunked a lot of conspiracy theories, and then I decided to head on home about 8:30 or so. I'm just now sitting down and deciding what to do next. Given that I 1) need to do notes, 2) could have some fun watching videos, or 3) am so tired I could just go straight to bed, I am somewhat in a quandry. Notes will probably be pushed to tomorrow night, although, as usual, that's last minute. What I really want to do is take a shower, put my jammies on and get comfortable, maybe listen to some music for a bit. Basically, I need to relax. There were lots of frustrations today and a great deal of traffic to navigate, as I think I spent my day, about 9:30-6:30 running full tilt.

For tomorrow, I plan on:
  1. Going to the farmer's market (for real this weekend)
  2. Doing some laundry (at my friends' house if possible, and then the hand washables at home later)
  3. Getting the car washed and detailed (A is treating me to this, which is great)
  4. Doing game notes
That's doable, I think. For now, though, I'm going to listen to my plushie cat that plays 'Soft Kitty', get into a sleep shirt, and go into the bedroom for a bit. Maybe I'll even read for a bit. I have the latest (and last) of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Series (the one 'True Blood' is based upon, with Sookie Stackhouse as the main character) and I'm interested in how she'll end it. :)

It is a day when things are not going according to plan

  1. Got to the passport office; their camera wasn't working. Then they figured out the problem (a bad power strip), but it turns out I needed one more piece of paperwork that wasn't mentioned anywhere (because of my name change, where they marked out my old name on my birth certificate and put in the new name, even though the case # and date, etc., is all on the certificate, I still need the court order). The lady was very nice and asked me if I could come back at 4, which is technically after they close, to finish the application, since tomorrow she's booked.
  2. My doctor's office is in a building where there are two elevators. One has been out for about two or three weeks apparently. The other went out today, and the people fixing it had all gone to lunch when I got there. So it was up four flights of stairs and an asthma attack for me.
  3. I waited nearly two hours to see the doctor, which took less than five minutes, and then no one, either the phlebotomist or doctor (who usually does well), could stick me and get any blood out of me today, even after three sticks and several searches for veins. I now have an order to drink lots of water and go to an outside lab for my blood draw. But they are sending in my diuretic and potassium to the pharmacy so I can get those today. I am to limit my sodium intake, which includes my favourite drink, diet soda. YKWIA will be pleased; he's been trying to get me off them for years. For the record, I am drinking ice water right now.
Well, at least I remembered to pay one of my bills by five so it will be considered on time. I really want to take a nap, but I have to leave in about ten minutes with the paperwork to head all the way across town to the post office. I want to get there a little before four just in case she forgot. Actually, I should go ahead and get ready to go. I'll write later.
