But I do connect to music like this:
Don't worry--I'm not depressed or suicidal. But there have been times in my life when I've felt music like this really expressed my feelings better than I could, and for whatever reason, listening to them even when I feel okay makes me feel better. Odd, hmmm?
Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

Listening to
'Hello' by Evanescence
It was written in memory of Amy Lee's sister, who died at age three. The band does not perform it live, but it is very haunting and full of emotion. I think it's beautiful.

Listening to
Evanescence
'Imaginary'
I really did build a world of phantasy within to hide from the world outside when I was younger. A friend dubbed this 'Lisa Land'. I think for the most part I am back out with the rest of the world, but this song still resonates.
'My Immortal'
A beautiful song. Amy Lee has a lovely voice. The version on the album ends with traditional string instruments, not electric guitar, drums, and the 'rock' sound. I've never made up my mind which one I like better. The latter is more dramatic; the former is sweeter.

Listening to
'My Immortal' by Evanescence
Today was an enjoyable Cthulhu game, although the scariest entity encountered was my character's 2-year-old. Yes, she really is that scary. Give me Mi-Go, Shub-Niggurath, or Cthonians--anything but Kaia, a child with a morphing ability, multiple personalities, and a penchant for growing tentacles and injecting people with neurotoxins. What can I say, daycare is out of the question. :)
I found a link to headlines of strange stories any Lovecraft fan might like to follow, such as strange pyramids, meteorites, and planets at the reaches of our system. Granted, it hasn't been updated in awhile, but it's a good idea. Check out BloopWatch for more.

A quiet song before sleeping
and I must sleep, as I need to be up in less than three hours.
Listening to: Evanescence, 'Hello'
It's a fan video made from a compilation of the band's music videos, and it's well done, matching the ethereal quality of Amy Lee's voice.
Listening to: Evanescence, 'Hello'
Playground school bell rings again,
Rain clouds come to play again,
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to,
Hello...
If I smile and don't believe,
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream,
Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken,
Hello, I'm the lie, living for you so you can hide,
I don´t cry...
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping,
Hello, I'm still here,
All that's left of yesterday.

Feeling good, yet in a hauntingly Gothic mood nonetheless
I think Amy Lee has a beautiful voice that I could only hope to have a fraction of.
'My Immortal' by Evanescence
'Lithium', also by Evanescence (and YKWIA, there's a brief shot of a frozen spider carcass 18 seconds in on this one)
Lithium is usually used to keep down mania in bipolar disorder moreso than as an anti-depressant, athough it does have those properties as well. I've never taken lithium, but I take Lamictal for the same reason. My life has been so much better since I went on it...I've found it freeing, really. But I could see how someone might mourn the loss of the thing that defined them.
Good night. I'm going to bed at midnight, not three in the morning. Woo-hoo!
