Well, that's better

My frustrating day got better.  I took a nap,  built a nice civilisation in Civilization IV,  and then spent time with friends.  Now I'm listening to show tunes (more Jesus Christ,  Superstar) and heading to bed soon.  There's no Cthulhu game tomorrow,  so I have some time to do things around here before going over to my friends' house to visit. Now let's hope the car behaves well this week,  as I think the earliest I can get it looked at again is Friday.

I'm glad

I noticed that my front door was slightly ajar just now,  especially as I was going to go take a nap after playing some Civilization IV.  Must pay more attention!

I feel

Like I've run all over Creation today (and nearly got stuck in the unholy morass that is Tiverton Way). Today I have gone:

1) To pick up a friend at his house
2) Taken him to the pharmacy
3) Dropped him off at the barber
4) Returned home
5) Ate and took meds while playing Civilization IV
6) Went back to his house right as he was getting home in the bus
7) Got lost with him on Tiverton Way looking for Scrub World
8) Had to get in another lane when leaving the area so I wouldn't wind up blocking the intersection
9) Managed to get in the right lane and go to a men's clothing shop,  turning at the right place
10) Found they were closing out stock,  didn't have what we were looking for,  and their new store is...yes,  in Tiverton Way
11) Gave up on the clothing run
12) Went to the grocery
13) Found Homemade brand coconut almond chocolate chip ice cream -- one all three of us love--a lot
14) Spent time with YKWIA while A watched the basketball game and a movie about Scientology
15) Watched 'Ugly Betty' and 'Star Trek: Voyager'
16) Called Brenda about playing the game tomorrow
17) Helped clean up the library at their house
18) Spent time with YKWIA

Now I' m home and very,  very tired.  Good night.

Fire monkeys and Mardi Gras

Lunar new year was Monday; yesterday was Mardi Gras. Hope both found you all well.  This is the year of the monkey,  especially the fire monkey.  Let's hope that the monkey brings us luck.

I don't know much about Chinese astrology (and so much online is absolute bunk,  I'm sure). But I do know I am a fire sheep/goat, which is interesting,  because I'm also an Aries,  the ram, which is a sign ruled by fire. So I've got a double helping,  so to speak.

The last two nights I uncharacteristically played Civilization IV rather than blogging.  Tonight it was dinner (two eggs and peanut butter with bread), which I am finished with and am now thinking of going to bed.  Good night.  I really will try to think of something important to write about tomorrow.  :)

A little business, a little pleasure

I got the bills paid that are due and played some Civilization IV for about an hour or more. I haven't played video games for awhile. I've changed into shorts and a tank top, the better to relax in. It's only 8:30 but I'm going to put my feet up for a bit (they're swollen and throbbing) and listen to some music. Then I'm going to put that laundry away. It's so nice to have the apartment so neat and tidy, so I must keep it that way.

So tired

I know, I start a lot of entries that way. But, man, what a busy week. Yesterday I went to five different places: the pharmacy, Meijer's, Lowe's, and two different Krogers (one for gas, one for groceries), running errands with a friend. I also watched some videos with another friend and then helped him make kugel, which turned out splendidly. For dinner we had kugel, eggplant pâté with a bit of baguette, a turnip/apple dish, matzoh ball soup, and a lovely salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and olives (that's what I remember anyway--there may have been more in the salad). He also made cholent for today, which was very good.

Today was cleaning and then the game, which we played until 10:30 pm or so, taking a break for a bit when one player had to go get her son from something. I had taken the laptop with me, so while the game master took a nap, I played Civilization IV. :) But we probably played our normal five or six hours altogether. I enjoyed it. It was downtime, rather than investigation or heavy action, but sometimes that's where a lot of the character development happens. A character that had been in the game several years ago made a reappearance as one of our comrades in arms, having gone through the training the player characters receive. I think Brenda was quite pleased; she's been asking about bringing this character back for awhile. Anyway, I just got in a little before midnight, as I helped clean up after the game and YKWIA showed me some more fashion. I think he's really trying to improve my wardrobe, which he believes to be tacky because it's often sparkly with various sequins and little shiny things. Today's 'Baby Blues' comic reminded me of the whole thing, actually.

Okay, I have taken my nightly medicine. I've blogged, which was an aim for today. I've plugged up the various things that charge overnight. I'm heading to bed before it gets much later. Good night. Hope you had a nice weekend!

I've been occupying myself with a game of

Civilization IV. I almost had the spaceship built, but not quite, but did win a time victory at least. I refused to give Louis XIV the diplomatic one. :) I do like the turn-based game where you build up cultures (and I try not to get sucked into wars, but that's just me) but my back is hurting because of the wheelchair I'm in being not at all ergonomic with the rest of the workstation. But hey, at least I can get to the computer.

The sun came out awhile ago and is now very bright. It's warm in here, too, although it's cool outside and going down in temperature. I've noticed the Christmas cactus buds are starting to open just a bit. I managed to water the pepper in the bedroom, but the rosemary is quite dessicated. I cannot seem to grow them inside at all.

Of course, the humidity in here feels like it's almost nil. Where I'm spending so much time inside (and we're on day 42 of no proper shower, but I did take a sponge bath today), my skin is terribly dry. Again, I want that loofah and a long hot shower soon. I do have various lotions I've been using. Right now I have some Bath & Body works Stress Relief Aromatherapy lotion with eucalyptus and spearmint on.

I did some shopping earlier online, getting something for YKWIA and for my mother. I called and asked A what he would like for the holidays. Despite being stuck inside, I am trying to get ready for the holidays, though. I'll give him a little time to think it over. I may have to do some searching for the other folks on my list; nothing just jumped out like the others did.

I think I am going to take a break from the computer for just awhile so my back puts itself back into some semblance of order and then start working on the game notes again. It would be nice to lie down, although I've only been up for about six hours. We'll see. I've done really well about staying up and don't want to backslide at all. But stretching out would be nice.

Seriously?

So, I am feeling better, put my feet up for awhile, ate something, and decided to relax. But I just spent over an hour and a half playing Civilization IV and it had something like 32 turns left, in the midst of a space race, when it says there is a memory allocation error and exits the program. Then I went back to the autosave and it can't decompress the game session. :( I've never had that happen in all the time I've had the program. Really? I must admit, I am mildly put out.

Okay, it's obviously time to step away from the computer. Hope your night is a little less annoying.
