Just for fun

I was curious, so I looked this up. This is what my horoscope said on the day I was hit by the car:
Changes may be taking place on the home front, Aries, perhaps unexpected repairs or someone moving in or out. Your household could seem frenetic and disorganized until the dust settles, which doesn't sit well with your love of peace and quiet. Whatever needs to be done is best accomplished one step at a time, with your mind focused on the results. It will help you stay sane!
[From: http://glo.msn.com/horoscopes/sunsign/daily?date=2012-10-12&sign=aries]

I know these things are general, as there are a lot of variables that aren't addressed unless they're looking at your exact time/place of birth, but yeah, I'd call this changes on the home front. Definitely unexpected. I am trying to focus on one thing at a time, though. It's really the only way to deal with what can easily be overwhelming.

Snake handing day!

Years ago, YKWIA told me about the zodiac sign Ophiuchus. What evolved was Snake Handing Day in its honour. It's a in-joke, what can I say. Ophiuchus is a constellation in the form of a man grasping a snake, you see. But imagine my delight when Rachel Maddow discussed Ophiuchus and the 13 signs of the zodiac--and why they exist--on her show. And yes, I agree with her. I refuse to be a Pisces rather than an Aries. But I think it would be great to be an Ophiuchus.

PS Rachel Maddow is an April Fools' Day baby, so her birthday is one day off of mine. She is also six years younger than I am. Gee.

One of the reasons my last name is Rowan

You Are A Rowan Tree

You are full of charm and cheer. You light up a room.
And while you crave attention, you do it without ego.
You are an interesting mix of contradictions - and very unpredictable.
You are both dependent and independent, calm and restless.
You are passionate, emotional, gregarious, and (at times) unforgiving.

Mind you, it's probably all a crock, but there you have it. When I changed my name I didn't care for most of my maternal surnames (Craig, Lamb, Roach, Reardon, among others), but I have for some time been drawn to the rowan tree with its rich folklore (it's supposed to be a powerful amulet of protection). So, I went with Rowan. [As to why I changed my name, I was divesting myself of my father's name, since we were estranged. Also, I never cared for the name Broadbent]. Since I was changing the last name, I went for broke and changed the whole thing from Lisa Kay Broadbent to Elisabeth Eilir Aranea Rowan. That way I'm still Lisa (short for Elisabeth). But online I use Eilir Rowan, which is terribly Pagan (Eilir means spring, rebirth, or butterfly in Welsh, and Alban Eilir is one name for the vernal equinox that Pagans celebrate as a holiday).
