When I was working in the comic store, we had an obsessive comic fan who was a shut-in who called us regularly. He was sweet, but we invented 'the bye-bye process' to politely deal with him on the phone.

Fake Smithsonian Ads: Historically Hardcore

Be sure to check out the link for the photos. They were done for student portfolios and widely tweeted and blogged. Unfortunately the Smithsonian was not amused and asked that their logo be removed. Here's the updated posters, which admittedly aren't as kickass without the other logo, but still great. Of course, the museum can ask that the originals be changed, but there's probably a bazillion copies of those ads out there now with the original logo. Ah, the power of the Internets. Taking down governments, racist co-eds, and institutional stuffiness. Hey, Smithsonian, you should pay for these ads. :)

Henson donates original Kermit to Smithsonian

The original Kermit the Frog, his body created with an old dull-green coat and his eyes made of pingpong balls, has returned home to the nation's capital, where the puppet got his start.

The first Kermit creation from Jim Henson's Muppet's collection appeared in 1955 on the early TV show "Sam and Friends," produced at Washington's WRC-TV. Henson's widow Jane Henson on Wednesday donated 10 characters from the show to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
