Born, like other comic book characters, out of an otherwise trivial but life-changing animal bite, the Rabid Librarian seeks out strange, useless facts, raves about real and perceived injustices, and seeks to meet her greatest challenge of all--her own life.

I just found out that someone I admired died a year ago
Her name was Abby Marlatt. She was a Unitarian-Universalist (I used to be a member of the local church, and met her there) and social activist. I got to thinking of her today after reading a story about the Freedom Riders. She was 93 when she died, and she dedicated her life to protesting injustice. I still remember the timbre of her voice, and I had (and still do have) quite a bit of respect for her. I'm sorry to see that she passed on, but I think she is a good example of a life lived well.
