UK taking first step to determining if they will offer domestic partner benefits

That would be so great. It would make them more competitive with other universities and allow families (yes, I know, not everyone accepts that definition, but they're families nonetheless) to reap the full benefit of their employment equally, regardless of marital status. There are a lot of hurdles to go over, though. This is just a step to form a committee to come up with a proposal and a pricetag. Who knows where it will go from there. But it is certainly the right thing to do, and I hope they go forward with it.
