Ashcroft Mocks Librarians and Others Who Oppose Parts of Counterterrorism Law

Ashcroft Mocks Librarians and Others Who Oppose Parts of Counterterrorism Law

A couple of the librarians on one of my lists suggested that we each send him a librarian action figure. Yes, let's put that shhing action to use. Think of it, thousands of action figures going 'shh' with their hands at once! :) Oh, wait, wouldn't that involve our government having a sense of humour? We'd probably be dragged in on terrorism charges.

Tracking reading habits would betray our high regard for the First Amendment. And even if someone in government wanted to do so, it would represent an impossible workload and a waste of law enforcement resources.--John Ashcroft

Well, at least we agree on something, right?
